Just a funny little picture. I will have more posted tomorrow as we finish pulling out the motor and move the truck to the shop to start the 7mgte swap.

A few weeks ago I went to pick up a new clip for my suburban and the guy I got it from had an engine hoist bolted to the bed of his toyota. He said he used it like a little tow truck/crane on his property. It worked pretty good too.

We got the motor pulled out of the supra today, took a lot longer than anticipated because I didn't have my 17mm deep socket to let loose the motor mounts but it eventually came out and is now sitting in the shop with the dually truck. The next time it's on the road it will be turbo 7mgte powered.

If anyone has 5m motor mounts off the 82-86 supra mk2's, I -NEED- some to finish this swap. If you know of a junked supra around your area, I would buy them if you picked them up for me and I would be forever grateful!!!

Got some 5m motor mounts. Didn't think I would have to get a diff oil pan because all I kept hearing was people talking about needing them to clear their front diff on their 4x4's and I don't have one so I didn't think I would, but I was wrong. ha ha. We got the motor and trans in, now I'm just looking for an oil pan, diff sump pump, and a diff oil filter location as the 5mge motor mount bracket blocks the location for the old oil filter. Here's a couple pics of the progress of the day.

How much does a 22re motor and tranny with ~160k miles on it sell for? Just wanting to know what a good price would be to ask for my old motor that I pulled out?

Ha ha your math doesn't add up Dger, 3-600 for the motor, 2-500 for the tranny, you'll give me 200 for both? ha ha I'll be posting it on CL for 600 all together, comes with header and short throw shift kit. Sound like a fair asking price ya think?

Ya thats a good price. What type of header is it you got? I might want it. Ya i no my math doesnt add up but like i said you can never really truck anyone on craigslist. They may say its a strong or just rebuilt motor or tranny but they probably just cleaned it up put new oil in it so it can sell. Atleast this why i no yours is legit and true. How about 250-300?

Mine burns oil but runs good. Pacesetter long tube header. If I can't sell it on CL for close to what I want I'll see if you're still needing one.

Tracked down an oil pump for $140 shipped and an oil pan for $55 shipped. Need to buy a new fuel pump and some electric fans and that -SHOULD- be the last of what I need to buy for the swap.. Keep your fingers crossed for me. ha ha

    Looking good man...
I remember the day I did my 7m swap...
Ugh that was a long month:)
    Dont forget the drive shaft...
    EGR block off plate...
If you take you time squeezing the motor in you wont have to cut the rad support and retaining the stock hood latch. I did cut my center grill support to run my 2 pusher fans. Also cut off the bottom radiator mounts off the supra and reweld them on to the dually. the stock 22re rad will not be enough to keep the 7m cool.. The supra radiator will fit in there pretty snug. Hope your not looking to retain the AC off the supra.. Steering box is in the way. :( Some days I wish I had AC esp once I move down south I'm going to need it...

Also from the supra if there is a LSD in it it will fit in you rear end...
Is the supra a auto or manual? if manual your going to need to cut the shifter opening about 6 inches back. the shifter location is a lil to far back for any comfort. I didnt do this but if my memory is correct this should work. if you can mock up the old truck shifter like the they did in the shelby cobra (flipping the mustang shifter backwards).

Oh and do the clutch now while the motor is out of the car. A clutch job later is basically removing the motor again... Check the input shaft bearing on the R154 tranny they tend to go out. so if you can replace it now your gonna thank me later....

Ha ha ha! That's awesome! That was only a few months after I got it running, only to tear the motor out a year later and replace it with a 7mgte.

People are -always- taking pictures of my truck while I drive, I thought about making a website where anyone who took a picture could go to it and upload what they took. I would put a sticker across the back glass with the address. Something like "tagmytruck.com" or "uploadmytruck.com" It would be enjoyable to see all the pics people take of me driving.
