Picked up a tilt column from a 87 4runner yesterday. Pretty much a bolt on swap.

^yeah. You will need to get the complete column with steering shaft for a bolt on deal. You may need to swap over the combination switch assembly if your truck is not equipped with intermittent wipers. Very easy to do.

I thought the gear box and pitman arm was different between the 4wd and the 2wd? If everything is the same except for the wiper switch then it's worth the swap if I can find one! Is the turn switch the same also?

Also: How much further past the stock 2wd non-tilt setup does it extend?

It's not telescopic so it doesn't extend, only tilts.

When I go parts hunting at the junkyard during the winter, I wear a bulky, heavy thermal work suit. It was difficult getting under that steering wheel. The tilt will make it much easier.

I was meaning if it stuck out further than the stock 2wd column does..

Edit: It's nice though! Will have to find me one of those because it will make it nicer for sure.

It doesn't stick out any further than the original.

    So,
Since the 1uz harness is all self contained, I only need a few power wires connected to get it running. I want to remove all the random 22r wiring scattered in the engine bay. I planned to just snip off what I dont need. Then decided to unwrap the entire harness and remove a bunch of crap.

Only circuits that will be left are the heater fan, clock, instrument cluster and lights. I'll make up the ecu power circuit and locate it behind the glovebox. The 1uz engine harness is all self contained in a nice neat bundle. Only wiring in the engine bay will be the fuse box and alternator circuit.

I found out something really cool. When I snatched the 4runner column for my swap, I grabbed the delayed intermitent wiper combination switch.

Since I was in the wiring harness anyway, I decided to plug it in and give it a try. All the plugs were the same. It worked! The time delay circuit is built in the switch. No other parts needed for this feature. Very easy mod for you guys who want this luxury.

I stuffed a cheap air/fuel gauge in their when it ran the 22r turbo. Help me see if I was in the ball park when I tweaked the AFM.

    Hell yeah!!!!!!!

    http://youtu.be/8Dgr7D7xWcA

The blue flame was caused by accidently swapping cylinder 1 and 7 spark plug leads.
So much left to do .........
