i've been looking for some way to make a widebody kit but the onlything ive come up either is adding steel or stupid bushwacker flares, offroad fiberglass like hannemann also raises the wheel opening, been there, sold all of it.

4WD fenders are technically "widebody" in some sense.

but an actual wide body?! oh gawd :D

    Project Rebirth Now Project AfterBirth

It's been a while. Still have the truck but it's going through a few changes. I love the boosted 22rte but it does have it's limitations. She was decently fast but the early 80's stock engine management was only one step better than carbs. The stock hp rating was 135hp @ 5psi. I turned up the boost to 10 psi (about 170-180 hp) and it felt good. The fun lasted for a while until the stock 20+ year old turbo began to fail and spew oil. I planned to do a turbo upgrade while a Steeda manifold. We are looking at close to $1000 in parts and still limited to 10 psi (less than 200 hp) without much more money invested in stand alone ecu and other supporting parts.

A guy offered my some nice cash for the turbo motor for his celica swap so I sold it.

Messed around today and did this.

It's just sitting in there right now. No trany, no mounts.

Picked up this 260 hp 1uz with harness and ecu for $225. The 5 speed fitting parts will cost me another $750 ( already have the adapter plate). So for around $1000, I can get 260 hp and have a dead reliable and fast truck.

I have to say that I'm a little ****y now since I completed my first 1uz swap last May into my 1990 Cressida.

I love these motors now. It's gonna be stupid with the 5 speed in this truck.
I'll post progress of the build in this thread. After I get her running I'll take it one step further.

    Stay tuned.

Thanks for the comments. Starting to regain interest in the truck.

Test fitted the engine with the 5 speed attached. I will have to swap out the LS400 oli pan with a SC400 rear sump. I Thought I would be able to get it in there without swapping but no way.

I may have to swap out the shifter housing with one from a MK3 supra but I will not be sure until the motor is in place.

    It's yours for $30.

I bought the adapter plate from a local machinist who machined a few for a customer. A couple of bolt holes where alittle off ( 3/16") so I got it for cheap.
No flywheel yet but I will get one from 1uzfeswapkit.com. I highly suggest these two companies for guy interested in this swap.

The blower will be installed next year. The intake manifold to install the blower is $1400 alone. Cant justify that to the wife this year.

Previous owner did a ghetto job installing the windshield. Leaked like hell and caused rust hole in the floor that I will have to fix. Rust was forming around the window so I assumed the worst and figured the channel was rusted to hell under the window. So I removed the window to check it out.

Happy to see just lots of surface rust and a few pin holes. Still VERY solid.

If it was really bad, I was gonna just get another cab. I'll clean up the rust, apply some rust converter and skin/fill it with metal set epoxy to seal the pin holes.
