Nice job on the 1UZ :waytogo:. I've been tearing one apart from a 1992 sc400, they seem pretty complicated, but bulletproof from what I hear. Have you seen the 1UZ toyota pickup on youtube with the ITBs and velocity stacks?

Getting closer. Just need to bleed the brakes and install the windshield.

Yes this swap requires alot of work. Luckily Dropzone customs sells mounts for this swap which takes out some of that work. I would have finished this a little earlier but I was actually performing two 1uz swaps at the same time. My truck and a friend's 87 supra with the 5 speed conversion. We got it on the road last saturday night and DAMN!! The 5 speed 1UZ is a different animal. Sooooooo much better with the manual trans. We set up my 1UZ auto cressida up against his 5 speed 1uz supra and he dogged me from a dig!!! Then we got on the freeway and did a 60-120 roll and he walked away strong in 4th gear.

I'm working hard to get this truck on the road to redeem myself. How in the hell did I help a friend build a car to be faster than my own car.

Man I have been loving this build from day one! Are you choosing to stick with the auto trans or are you doing the manual swap? Couldnt remember what you decided to do.

    85pickama,
I went 5speed and after driving the 1uz/5speed supra I helped build, I'm glad I did. It was more expensive but way more power to the wheels and much less complicated to wire up.

    Beyond,
ITB's are cool BUT you will need standalone to run it. After investing in the gear and tuning, you will realize that standalone + turbo would make way more power than n/a ITB's.

Pulled it out of the garage today to let the engine run and check for leaks.

Trying to bleed the brakes now. Is there a write up on eliminating the load sensing valve?

    Under / Cinnamon,
Are you guy referring to the fitting on the passenger side frame in the engine compartment?
Then I just bypass the load sensing valve out back by directly connecting the feed line to the soft line to the axle? (I could not find any info in UNDER's build thread).

    Thanks for your help.

Just had the windshield installed along with stainless trim I found in the junkyard. I mounted the doors so it would look like a rodworthy truck.

I did take it out for a short spin but the harsh vibrations from the bad u-joints on the driveshaft stopped the fun. I didn't get past 50 mph but she got there FAST!. 1st gear is usless under WOT and 2nd isn't much better. Need to get this driveshaft fixed fast.
The nissan caliper swap works great! Gonna go ford 8.8 with discs in the rear.

Got the driveshaft back yesterday. It was beautiful today, so I took it out for a shakedown run. The power comes on smooth and she pulls very hard on the few occassions that it makes traction. The passenger side wheel always breaks traction. Took these pics at my buddy's house that I helped with the 1uz supra.

My impression on this swap. I think 200+ hp in these small trucks is useless in most street use. Don't get me wrong, I dont regret this swap. I'm saying that it's VERY HARD to but the power to the ground. Any aggressive acceleration in 1st or 2nd gear ends in tire spin and smoke. My 260hp 1uz is a handful and I dont see the need in adding a turbo. Hell I can't see why anyone would drop a 2JZ in these trucks without serious suspension reengineering. The motor is smooth as butter and the power is always there. There where very few times when I felt the need to downshift to accelerate quickly.

Thanks. I'm happy it's finally on the road. Already put it to junkyard parts hauling today.
I'm running some old kuhmo tires. They are atleast 6 years old. I know some new better tires would help with traction.
I have a set of 225/50/16 and 265/45/16 kumho ecsta xs I plan on mounting in a few weeks.

Some wide rears should really help. Maybe add some weight back there from sand or water bags. I forgot if you have a posi. If you have 4.10s I know the feeling of super short gears, my 22r I can't barely floor it til 3rd. That nose combo still looks wicked. Love the project dude.

It's making me want to go kinda full retard on my next motor swap too. All I'm saying is more pistons required. :D

    congrats on getting it going!

i have major traction issues too. running 225's with the 4.10 the passenger tire never has a chance to grab. hoping a l.s.d. will help some. would be nice to actually feel it pull from take off. rolling starts are lots of fun for now lol.
