    Dayum!

Nice fitting those beasts on that spindle. Are you gunna have a big enough master? Or have you swapped one in already?

O and get ready for a slightly less than perfect ride quality with 50 lbs of unsprung brake hardware. :waytogo:

    Still awesome!

The calipers are actually alloy so no where near as heavy as they look but the discs do add a bit of weight. The spindle of the Celica is significantly bigger than the standard Corolla, with the Crown hubs bolting straight up. Master is being upgraded to match but need to sort out what side of the firewall to mount it all first. For a road car I think they will be perfectly fine, if it was a race car I would consider some Wilwoods and two piece rotors but to be honest a big part of the swap was to fill the wheels up as I hate tiny brakes in big wheels. Had to run the big diameter wheels to get wide enough tyres on the rear to look right with the bumper.

New struts all mounted up, going to pull the guards out another 10mm for a bit more tyre clearance. Current ride height will be where it bottoms out on the bumpstops once the struts are shortened and converted to coilovers. Very happy with how the brakes came out and how well they fill up the wheels. Nothing worse than massive wheels on factory brakes, just looks so wrong.

Just planning out my fuel system, need something decent to feed the V8 once the 8 throttle bodies go on so picked up a Soarer tank and pump. The Soarer fuel tank has a pump cradle that bolt in under a flat cover, the feed line out is separate to this and connects to the pump with a rubber line. Because of where the tank sits I didn't have a lot of room to have fuel lines coming out the top, instead I can feed the line out the front side of the tank. A couple of pics I stole off the net -

This is the section of the Soarer tank that will be cut out and welded into the top of the Corolla tank. you can see at the bottom edge of the hole where the cradle bolts on and the rubber line that feeds to the outlet line.

This pic shows the cradle removed from the tank, it has a kink in it due to the placement in the Soarer tank but will be straightened and shortened. It is going to be mounted in the left front corner of the tank, away from the fuel gauge and the filler neck. Will set the height of the cradle so the filter sock on the bottom of the pump sits around 50mm below the bottom of the KE70 tank, this will be surrounded by a box welded to the bottom of the tank that also extends around 50mm up into the tank. Top half will be drilled full of holes to allow fuel in but restrict it flowing back out. So thats the plan, now I just need to drop all the bits off with the panelbeater.

Press on brutha , press on ... I built my own fuel pickup/pump holder on my Trekker .. so I think your lucky to find something that is a bolt on !! nice attention to detail

Haha, it will be bolt on once we weld all the bits in. I just stumbled across the Soarer tank, saw one for sale and then googled it. Seemed like a good cheap way to get a decent internal pump as the bigger diff I fitted was getting too close to where I previously had an external pump mounted.

Nah, my panelbeater is doing the cutting/welding. I told him not to blow himself up.

Right, update on the tank work -
    First cut holes.
Then stick some stuff in the holes that was cut out of the other tank.
    [IMG] [IMG]
Roll some steel up to wrap around the pump pickup.
Some lines might be handy, feed goes to pump and return feeds back around the pickup.
You end up with this sort of thing -
    [IMG]
    [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]
Pump filter will basically sit flat on the bottom of the recessed section, this will have holed drilled around the top and then pushed about 50mm up into the tank.
More updates in two weeks when I get back from holiday.

    nice work callum!

is that round drop there to help keep the fuel near the pickup tube while drifting around?

Yeah that's the plan, will save running a surge tank and second pump. It will be pushed up into the tank more with holes drilled all around it to let fuel in but restrict it flowing out when cornering. Keeps the fuel system nice, simple and well contained, was starting to run out of room under the back of the ute.

Now the brakes and wheel spacers are final, we can reassemble the front end fully and start working on the headlights and tilt front bonnet. Also have the rear window to finish and the inside of the tray.

Bits have arrived from the US and according to a certain Mr Sheepers they look like a perfect match and the manifold will be done by lunchtime tomorrow.
Throttle bodies are off a 2002 Honda VFR800 VTEC, will need 2 sets for the V8.

I went and bought some actual Toyota bits today, even if they are off a FWD. Got some motors to flip the grille to expose the headlights, need to keep it legal I suppose. Now I just need to order the headlights, going with Hella projectors.

Nothing new done to it yet, just been sitting in the shed while I save a little cash and collect a few bits. Next job is to sort the ride height and coilovers for the front so we can finish the panel work.
