thanks guys .... rewired the /98 MAF today . and a VID wee bit of belt squeek , but i'll get to that later . .
thanks guys ... yep .. now I can get going on finishing . little work on the dash today .. got the clutch start switch and "spare" switch cover mounted on the left side .. .
You're doing a great job of fabbing up that dash. Looks like you have the heater controls figured out too?
thanks.. and Yes , but I broke the darn bezzle .. actually it was already broken , so I'm looking for another . then I can continue . .
ok .. so basically done today .. just have to locate the sterio , (still not sure on which one I'm using ) and "finish " of the dash bezzle .. I have been thinking of a woodgrain type covering/paint .. to simulate the original , maybe the "inferno Red " paint , I was even thinking of covering it in carbon fiber ... anyway not sure here's how it is now .. .
That looks great! Personally I think either the carbon fibre look or wood grain. Whatever you decide, I'm sure it will turn out excellent!
thanks guys ... I'm swayin' twards the wood grain ... but first off... I also decided to move the sterio .. lower gauges are comming up + 1 .. and sterio is going into the gauge pod . .
so some mock up on the dash ... I have been working with a "wood guy " ... and here is so far what we have come up with ... please ... this is NOT the final position of any of the components .. so dont look at that !! just the color is what i'm interested in ! It's a Cherry wood vaneer .. no varnish yet , so it will look a little "glossier" once done ... but it kind of gives an idea ... I think it will really bring the INFERNO RED exterior into the interior .. I'm considering some door panel incerts as well what do you think ? also looking at a "tiger wood " incert as well ... so !! .
thanks bro ! modifying the dash yet again .. I just bought some new guages ..O/P , Boost , and Volt .. so .. I 'm thinkin' .. I'm going to move the <--- sterio over and put the guages in the dash .. then , move the hazard , clock and dimmer into the original guage pod .. problem .. is it's just to darn HOT to work !!!!!! (37* C today ... ) but i'll get some pics up soon . .
so it finally "cooled" down to 33* C (90*F) outside ... and was able to get some work done .. as mentioned .. I decided to change the dash again .. so I welded up the clock , hazard, and dimmer hole .. and cut the NEW gauge holes . the frame of the dash had also been butchered by the previous owner .. so I cleaned it up , and started to make some new supports . I have more to do , to get the sterio supported .. but I wanted to make sure everything was going to be ok before I did all the work . also , now had to RE-mount the heater controls so , now I'm happy .... and "installed" .
Yeah that does look good! I have the same thing going on on my '79. Looks like the guys tools consisted of maybe pliers, a hammer, some tin snips... But the previous owner really butchered my dash to trying to fit a stereo in there. You inspired me. I'm putting this on my list of to-dos.
