It can, but it's a little retarded :nana: (not at full power). The URD kit is the upgrade specifically for it.

runs just fine on the stock fuel ... the mods are basically for top end "ping" .. I wont be "racing"

Not "just" for ping. The ECU retards the timing a bit across the whole power band without the upgrade. It just reaches the point where it can't adjust it enough at high RPMs, so it pings. There was a thread about it on TTORA.com. A before and after dyno showed 7-12%, IIRC, increase across the power band. It's definitely not necessary, though.

    Yes
I have read ALL the "issues"
for me I dont think this mod is necessary ... we'll see though , as it will be a "tow rig" ... ya never know !!

I wasnt going to , but I decided to finish wiring the fan .. and hook up the cooling system .. The last things I had to do , for a running unit .

I have had many times when I have done wiring (not my favorite thing) thought I had it all good .. taped and loomed only to have to take it all apart again because of some stupid mistake .

so this is why I wanted to get it running perfectly before I took it apart for the last time ,and , taped and loomed it all up .. I'm glad I did .

Today I finished the plumbing .. all clamped .. also buttened up the fan wiring . filled er' up with some coolant and flashed her up ..

    I have 4 problems ...

    1. the temp guage went to hot "right off the bat" wiring issue maybe .. not sure just yet .
    2. amp meter dosnt work ..
    3. check engine lamp - checked with my OBll reader , and have only 1 code
    4. since I put on the supercharger , its running rough and really low idle ~600RPM , I think I have a vaccuum leak maybe .

I wasnt able to look into any of these just yet , but obviously will !!

so wee bit of progress today ... had an hour , so I was able to figure the temp sensor .. IT works now .

check engine lamp is still on , but now I can run it .. and did so today ..
found it running rich and I still have air temp control code .. which I believe now is the IAC valve .. iratic idle and rich .. hopefully I can check that out tomorrow .

and still have the AMP meter not working ! and that is it .

so no luck so far ..
I'm hesatent to run for any length of time , as its running very rich .. and I'm worried about piston melting !!

I tested the MAS today .. and very close to spec. but just off a bit .. I'm wondering if it's my OHM meter ? I dont know ! The OBD11 code suggests otherwise .

I phoned Darren at White Valley Collision , where I originally bought the engine package , and he has willingly "stepped up to the plate" to replace the piece . AWESOME service !!! and a GREAT guy to deal with !!

new/used MAS is on the way ..

this is basically the LAST thing before I can tear it down for paint .. Paint is here , so I'm wanting to get this wrapped up !!!

I hope you get it figured out soon! I can't wait to see this thing painted.

worked on it for a few mins today .. my buddy Paul came over to help ..
replaced the MASS .. and no change .. checked olm values .. and both the same ..

After Paul left , I ran the Trekker up to temp .. .. even got the new fan "pushin air " .. I'm very pleased with that aspect .. as engine temp. stayed @ 1/2 guage . I assume it's 195* but didnt actually check .. I did check heater opperation , and both front and rear were blowing HOT .. so all is good there :)

so basically I'm stuck here ..

My "rich" running engine either boils down to a harness issue .. or computer issue ...
    my OBD11 reader has =

getting a code P0110 Air Intake Temp. sensor 1 circut ... which from what I understand this sensor is incorporated in the MASS ..

I replaced the MASS with another .. and same symptom , same code .. cleaned both .. same thing with both .

I have also pulled out code P0172 = system running to rich bank 1 . and P0100 Mass or volume air flow A circut .

so I'm totally confused now ?

I'm going to check harness integrety , dont think this is it , but I will check it to the computer plug .. then the computer is the last option , but ... no test -- correct ? just replace ?

talked to Daren (white valley collision ) and he dosnt have another computer .. I really hope I dont have to spend another G note for a computer !!

so i'm running out of options ... and I still dont know what is wrong !!! VERY frusterating .. and I dont want to do this anymore !!!!
I spent about 3 hrs today on the "check engine" and I'm almost ready to admit defeat ..

I have talked to a buddy of mine (All Toy , in Kamloops ) and he got a rig in there shop , basically with the same symptoms .. he asked me to let them know whats up !!

    anyway ..

I got the new/used MTM O2 sensors .. and as I suspected . the wire length is different .. so hence the part # change .. (I guess) installed = NO differance .

checked wire harness integetry between MASS and computer = contenuity OK on all 5 wires . Harness is good .

also checked computer values as per "diagnosis" in manual ..THA + E2 pins .05~3.5ohms @20*C all with in value .
suggest pins are ok .. I didnt get to operating temp. and check values .. lost hope here >

I'm realy lost here now .. and almost ready to give up !!
considering removing the check engine light bulb , and compensating the TPS .. or something stupid like that !!!!

    :(

I dont get it .. everyone elses swap seems to go so simple .. what the hell !!!!

    YAHOOOOOOoooooo !!!!!!!

finally got it figured . Code PO110 (in my case)

started with replacing the maf with another .. no change .
checked wire integrity with my ohm meter .. continuity , good
also checked values on the computer , everything checked out !!! system OK ... still had the check engine .. anyway , you guys know the story ...

I decided maybe something happened to the computer , so I searched Canada for a MTM /99 computer . found 1 .. after thinking about it , for a while and considering the MTM computer , for this year , is a rare bird .. (9807-9908 only).. so I decided to buy it .

well got it today , and plugged it in ... I was bummed when there was no change , and still "check engine" with a code ...
I have been checking my wiring thoroughly .. as this is the only direction I could go .. lots of wire checking , head scratching and reading the manual , when I turned the page , and saw a picture of a MAF, that was not the one I was using .. Toyota is usually pretty good with there descriptions , and not usually generic with there pictures .. this was it ... I had the 2000 MAF from my supercharger purchase , hooked up the intake and plugged it in ..

    PRESTO ... NO CODE :)

    runs awesome ... I'm so happy !!!!!

turns out I had the wrong MAF supplied to me with the original purchase of the engine conversion "kit" ...
man the time and MONEY I spent on this is just crazy !!! and now I have way less hair @!! but i'm happy it's done and running awesome .

also talked to Darren today , and he has offered to send me the correct parts via Greyhound prepaid ... to correct this misshap ..

    so now ... it's VID time !!!!!

    COMMING SOON

Ya, but now you have a truck to work on, not just a pile of parts.
    That makes a difference
