got everything in the dash "mounted" today .. made all the little clips and mount brackets .. and welded them all in place . so now they can easly be removed , but wont be falling out . I have also changed my plan for the dash .. I wont be doing the woodgrain .. I'm going to paint the main dash and center console the "inferno red" , same color as the outside , with the cover/pad being grey leather to compliment the interior all the dash trim is going to be painted black I now just have a few little dash lamps and such to wire , and I believe then , I am ready for the tear down .
working on the passenger door .. hinges are re-pinned , and as of today , the old metal , dented and starting to rust skin has been removed .. I need to still clean up the interior of the door a bit .. POR15 it .. and then I can bond the new skin on .
passenger door "epoxied" and curing overnight .. also got a little more done on the wiring .. had to add and move a few plugs for the lighter and such also got all 4 accessory ports wired .. drilled and set into place . I want to add the cup holders to the console , and maybe a "pocket" as well .. have some pics up tomorrow .
ok so as suggested .. Right door is done and mounted .. and pics of the ports .. rears you can just see at the top of the rear of the console .. also the rear switch is installed .. and the cupholder pics will have to wait .. It's all done , but I ran out of batteries in the camera . also working on the guage wiring .. .
so cupholder in .. ;D also installed the oil pressure sender and got the guages wired .. (still have a bit to do) they will all be green -- to match the rest of the dash . .
That's nice, but it seems like there's not enough room for the shifter to go into 1,3, or 5. Maybe it's just the angle of the pics. I really wish you hadn't broken the mold....I'd love to have a console like that! Cup holders, gauges, AND power ports!? NICE!
thanks guys , and yes in that pic it looks like I cant shift .. but console is not all the way forward , because i'm wiring it .. I absolutly have no problem shifting gears ..
Ahhh, I see that now. sorry, It was late, i guess I just wasn't paying attention. Still, I love that console!
ok .. so I believe I'm all done the wiring now .... Finished up the guages (now green) almost time to sauder all the cinnections , and tape and loom . also did the new dome lamp in the rear , and a "walk-in " lamp wired to the auto shut off lamp system , I will install it down in the foot area when the time comes . .
dissmantled the dash again , removed all the "accessories" , mechanically and chemically stripped it to bare steel .. and readied it for epoxy !! hope to have this done tomorrow .
Build's come a long way. I'm enjoying it. Sorry to thread jack, but I'm planning on building my own center (the one I bought was a broken POS) and putting gauges there too. I can't wait to see it completed!
so today the dash bezzles .. hi-solids primed twice .. and sanded once. .. I'm STOKED .. so far , they look awesome !! i'm hopin' to shoot some black on them this weekend .. .
so I didnt get the dash pieces done this weekend , but I did get some more work on the center console done .. I built a little pocket , for the rear heater cold/hot leaver .. and started working on the arm rest with map holder pocket undernieth .
