my fork/hub have a little hole in them which led me to believe the clip you posted wasn't the right part. plus my fork is a different style. i ended up finding the parts from a dealer in florida... they're two measley little u-shaped clips that hold it in place. they apparently were used on landcruisers too? i hope i'm right.

Yea I've seen those Toyota changed small things thru the years clips throw out bearings with ears on them and some with out mounting ears .just make sure the bearing is secure operate the fork and hope that fixes your noise ..

You talking about the thro out bearing . Bearing hub that sits inside the the thro out bearing

May have to press it out if u don't have a press I'd run up to a mechanic shop see if they can press it out for you ..or maybe come up with a large socket and a vice to clamp the bearing < don't crush it hammer on the socket see if it pop out w d 40 it two

i meant the bearing hub :D

do i have to use the same method to get that out? mine's pretty snug. no amount of prying seems to be dislodging it.

Prying it out might get messy a press is a safer method does your thro out bearing look like the one on the right in the pic of so u need to remove that middle peace as you no . A large socket that fits in there same diameter as the hub then place in a vice and see if u can nock it out .if not have a shop press it for u so u don't damage the mating surfaces

yeah it's the two piece design. if the hub isn't damaged can i just replace the bearing? everything else looks fine.

i got everything put back in and i'm still having the same issue.

my master cylinder's new, good throwout bearing, new clips to hold it in place.
only part that's left stock is the slave cylinder... could this be the cause of my issue? (could it not be disengaging all the way???)

    i'm so bummed. :(

i haven't noticed any leaking from the slave cylinder itself, i was having leaking from the master but i've got a new one on the truck. i removed the slave and it looks like it's seen better days. there's lots of built up crap inside of it and on the piston. only reason why i haven't considered a rebuild is because of the condition of the transmission... it shifts great, isn't leaking, and doesn't make any strange noises.

it sounds like the clutch just isn't fully disengaging though. i haven't lost any gears and i can still shift, i just have to keep the clutch engaged at all times.

on a better note, i found a neighbor who has a '78 hilux!
