like in this pic he needs to put the light in, and push the bucket in until the entire light would be past flush (sunk in a little). then tack the bucket, and cut the extra off with a cutoff wheel. thats how you get the bucket to be the exact shape as the bed.
its a 4x4. one is for the tranny the other is for the transfer case. i've seen some trucks with 3 shifters before.
he says thats pushed in as far as he can go, but will the lights still screw in all the way in there or does he gotta push in the buckets more?
as long as the light is far enough in they would be fine. heres how i do it. 1. i put the light in the bucket and put the screws in. (off the truck) 2. i use a black sharpie and mark where the light is, on the outside of the bucket all the way around. this allows me to know how far in the bucket has to be. 3. try to slip the bucket in. sometimes there's braces in the way (i use a sawzall to reach in and cut them out). 4. if the bucket goes in far enough so that the black sharpie line is behind the sheetmetal all the way around, i square up the light and tack weld it. (once the black line is past, it's a matter of preference how far in you want them) 5. then i use a 4 1/2" cut off wheel on a grinder to rough trim the excess bucket off. 6. next i take a flapper wheel and grind the bucket flush with the body. 7. then i weld it in. (lots of tacks at first)
that right there will help him lol im glad hes doing it on his truck first so he can get it right for when i do it to mine lol (btw im still confused on the lenses... am i buying them from u or are u gifting them to me or wut?) lol
sorry dude, my friend called me... i'm giving you the lights, unless you want to pay me $1 for them you will just need to buy the taillight fillers, and the caddy buckets. it's funny cuz my friend that just called has caddy lights on his 90 chevy. we bought the lights and buckets and fillers and it took him two years to install them. i told him i was doing a little write up on caddy lights and he said he was pissed he waited so long to install his. he thought they were gunna be hard to install.
haha ill give u the $1 for them lol oh n im going to 6 flags the 27th again but when i get them id love u to slip in a write up on how to wire them up and all that lol cuz i think ima run my reverse lights off a seperate light
i'm not sure how the lights wire with a toyota (haven't wired mine yet), but its easy to do. you only have ground, power, and turn. just use a test light. i'm picking my brother up tonight. so i might be going next week. and here is my friend that called lights. the truck is traditionally flamed up front, with a hopped up 383 motor. it hauls ass.
oh, if you want a reverse light than it has to be a seperate light. the caddies don't have them on the taillight. they are in the rear bumper.
yea i kno, i was plannin on runnin some LEDs off the license plate light n have the light b a red kinda n make my revese lights b hyper white LEDs that only go on when i go in reverse or somethin... **** i might not even run a license plate light, i dnt have one now, y put one on? jus run my reverse lights over there
i can't go on the 27th. my wife is working that day. since she's paying for the trip she's picking the date
haha aight ill just have to get some friends together to go that day or meet u at teh chevron thats right b4 the theme park lol
dude if you don't run the license light that is probable cause for police to roll on you. they will pick your truck apart just because it's custom. make sure you have a license light. the reverse light isn't that big of a deal in az. i don't have one on the s-10.
cali needs a reverse light... damn i gotta wire in a license plate light now too... i need an electrician lol
license is easy, just jump from the running light to the license. then the light will come on with the head lights.
yea i was supposed to pick it up today from the sticker shop we go to, but the guy was already leaving so i gotta wait till sat... n i gotta show my truck i aint ready to show it yet!
