Today on my truck I got rear-ended by an impatient idiot.

It rippled the aluminum diamond tread plate where the tail lights are mounted, tore the plywood side skirt part way off, and pushed the bed up to 1/4" behind the cab.

Actually, all that happened yesterday, but today I got most of it straightened out. I screwed the side skirt back on, and I loosened the six carriage bolts that hold on the bed, shoved it back in place, and tightened them down again. The back plate is still rippled, but the lights all work.

Must suck to be an impatient idiot. Her insurance is going to go up. Hyundai Elantra, if anyone cares. I've got a Scott-Lite aluminum bed with a wood deck.

The funny part was when the cop asked if my air bags had gone off. I just stared at him and said "This is an 86 Toyota!". I wonder who's older, him or Pablo.

Air bags  Love them police. Not to mention most cars with airbags don't deploy in a rear end accident.

The damage ratio reminds me of when my roommates 85 4x4 rear bumper got clipped from the side by a late 80 Buick regal. No noticeable damage to the truck, scattered the whole plastic front end of the car all over the road. Then the idiot tried to blame it on us.

Nice collection Chucky. Like all the fenders hangin on the fence.

So today on my truck I let the magic smoke out of my amplifier. First time in 20 years I've had one go. Bitch of it is that I've had it for a year and a half, but with box building issues and time I just got it in Sunday. It didn't even last an hour of play time.

Luckily it was a JL Audio amp, and 2 year warranty so I called crutchfield (love these guys) and they had one left, so I should have it back and working by this weekend, no cost to me. Just now I have to put it back in when its 30 degrees instead of 70. Lame.

Today I dreamed more about the W55 going into Red. I took out the automatic the other day without dropping it hard or otherwise damaging it. I did somehow sprain a rib in my back in the process. But at the end of the day, I had the 5-speed flywheel in and torqued, and the clutch and pressure plate set in place. Now I gotta find 6 of the right bolts to secure the pressure plate on. Once the rib feels a little better, I'll wrestle the W55 off the top shelf.

Today on my truck I opened the vent with outside (winter) air and dreamed that I still had actual A/C in my truck.

I recommend everyone who doesn't have A/C try this.

I fixed another vacuum leak on the 22r and then put some miles on the truck. Funny that it ran a little stronger when I had lots of vacuum leaks!

Might be time to just go with a weber.
