today i finally found my coolant "leak".

pin hole by upper hose on resivor of radiator that was "misting" the coolant to atmosphere, but never leaving a puddle or residue. took me a few weeks to find this one lol.

The posts that grab the wheel werent long enough. He tried rotating it, but with all my camber on a stock rim its pretty buried into the fender.

He also seemed baffled that a 78 back frame uses coil springs, and that the upper arms center shaft is mounted to the back of the spring cup. So shims = negative camber, not positive camber like typical setups.

I will replace all my balljoints, tie rods and bushings this fall and align it myself. Its always a battle to find a shop that can handle more than a mild drop on anything.

Today I decided to paint some stuff on my truck. I have half a quart of gloss black rustoleum brush on paint. I painted my brake booster and master cylinder, my passenger side motor mount and that side of the engine crossmember, my steering box and shaft, and the drivers side of the frame along the outer edge, and the leaf spring. I will finish blacking everything out tomorrow. Need to do a little more degreasing and move a few items out of the way for the rest. Ill get pics tomorrow of whats done when its dry

I have the engine out and might do some re blacking
    [IMG]
It was leaving smoke screen behind it and with the head off continued to leave oil on the bores on every cycle leaving me thinking the oil rings are not doing there job even though the engine has only done 30, 000 original miles

    cam

you can use the old rockers just might be a little noisy if they are worn. What size cam did you get.I always loosen all the tappit screws so the are super loose.Get some assembly lube and lube the cam bearings genorously and slap it down.Set the timing mark before you tighten it down and thats about it.

only way you can really damage the cam is to not adjust rockers to the new cam or do it wrong and make the too tight.

Like he said, set the adjusters to zero. Flat with the base of the rocker arm where it meets the valve. Then torque the cam bearings and head bolts back down. Is strongly advise a new head gasket while you have it apart. Little more work, but no risk of the old one being compromised from releasing its torque.

And I reused the same set of aluminum rockers on my last 3 engines with no issues. If the adjuster studs ever wear out they are fairly cheap to replace and if the arm itself that rides on the cam goes bad ill find another rocker assembly. I just recycled like 3 sets of steel rockers last week. They're junk.

Today I used my truck to get me a new job. At an auto repair shop about half hour north of me. I really dig it. Been wanting back into that field for five years since I left my last shop. So expect some shameless self promotion as we ramp things up and start doing it big there. I'm gonna talk boss man into turning it into partial custom stuff not just mechanical repair.

I thought I already missed PSTOF this year lol. I went a few years back in Tacoma. Bunch of use yota guys rolled down. Shonuff and his buddies mostly.

And I haven't lived in Lynnwood for a year and a half. I never got around to changing it. I'm out in snohomish now, which is like 20 mins east. The shop is called Arlington Automotive. 168th and Smokey Point Blvd. there's a bikini coffee stand and a gas station/liquor store combo in the parking lot. So I KNOW I'm gonna love it. :D

    Nice bozo pipes. Looks slick.

At first I was like, sweet Vic rims. Then I saw more. And more. And got as bored about them as starions. You know other cars have rims to rob too right?
