thats an actual felt type material bag isnt it? i kinda like mine but the material is fairly cheap... just looks cool/different than stock...
I rock a crown royal shift boot too. Matches all my purple accents on Mork. They normal bags are kinda cheaply but the higher level stuff has a fancier bag. Ill make a suede one eventually Today I swapped starter, alternator and regulator, new cap/rotor, new back tires and installed my gauge bezel I made. I also wrapped my air horn compressor with a rockstar can Here's a pic of the gauges. Super sparkle in the sun. I don't have tint so I wanted some glitz and glamour on the dash
I think I'm gonna make a small insert for between the circles on the gauge cluster. Where the blinkers flash. It's all coming together pretty nicely.
Tweaked my factory carb a bit today. Found the lines on the vacuum advance were reversed, the carb was about 2 turns too lean at idle, the timing was a touch fast, the idle too low and there were cracks in the rubber vacuum caps. Runs much better now. Now that I have it running better I'll refocus onto the suspension rather than swapping a pair of webers onto it.
Yesterday I started rebuilding the carb. It needs to pass emissions and run while I gather engine swap parts and finish a couple other projects.
finally fixed those annoyingly squeaky radius rod bushings ive been putting off..... found the front tires have cords showing from it being horribly misaligned. so i gotta find me some tires again since these are just in bad shape. put the truck down, ***click click click click click click click*** starter finally took a sh!t going down to the parts store and swap it out. goin down to buy solid steel rod to weld into my LCA / engine xmember so i have some material to ground down before it chews up my oilpan again. hoping to get all this done tomorrow
That sucks bro. I blew my head gasket today. Taking the head off tomorrow to find out how bad it is. Hopefully the head didn't warp. Anybody know the spec from deck surface to something known like the half circle at the end of the head? I wanna see how much mine has already been milled. Guy I got it from said .015". My head/block combo won't let me cut much off. I run a stock cam so less valve/piston clearance issues. And what's the best head gasket you've run? I like the felpro permatorque for when I build V8s. It's $18 for a 22r version.
Got the new holes in the radiator core drilled, & the AC hoses mocked up & clocked, now need to get them crimped once the hose sleeving gets here!
THats the gasket I just threw on my truck. 2k and still good. I realize not much I can speak of yet but it was highly recommended to me. Also I got ARP head STUDS it makes for very even perfect torque. And brings ur torque spec up to 90 ft lbs. Granted there 140 bucks but if ur gonna buy the best of the best in one area thats the one! And there 100% reusuable so they will pay off after what 3 uses
Not my truck but our 94 Corolla , just started have a coolant leak. Looks like the freeze plug behind ,near the distributor, & or the gaskets in that area!! Another vehicle I have to work on now!!!!!
I took my engine down to a short block today. Had the head gasket blow out yesterday. Or so I thought. Gasket looked fine. Cracked the head between the water jacket and the #3 exhaust valve. Gonna take it to the machine shop tomorrow and find out if its fixable or if I gotta seek out a new core. If its good I'm gonna port it while its apart. Intake is already ported and I have a 1-5/8" header. Does anybody know if its a bad idea to trim the HG where it sits over the water jackets. I ran the .020" thicker one from LCE last time. It has a tiny hole to allow water from the block to the head on the various jacket passages. Doesn't seem like a good idea to limit the flow so much. Also, I was thinking about adding a 1/8" or 1/4" hole on the thermostat to avoid another one getting sticky. That's an old hot rod truck I know. Slows warm up time a hair but so what. Washington is pretty mild weather.
at least engnbldr is around the corner for you WA folks. I went to the pick n pull and got Mk3 Supra spindles and brakes without rotors. Going to see if I can use LS400 calipers AND rotors...
fixed the starter today, welded in some solid rod iron into the front xmember today to give a buffer room to protect the oil pan from further road grating... i also got my half clear tail lights in... gonna install them tomorrow and see how long they last or if they fog up.
Yeah engnbldr is like 3 hours south of me. Emailed them, they can't do 20r heads without a good core. Think I found a good local one tho. Figure it out this weekend.
Too bad you don't need a 22r head I've got 4 or 5 good ones but my only 20r head is on a good engine I keep around as a backup. I swapped a pair of sr5 door panels onto the truck today. I had to drill the bottom of the doors for the push clip pieces and swap the window trim on the top of the panel from batwing to solid window style. Also swapped a perfect tailgate on. The red one was dented and rusted all to crap on the edges. I'm thinking of cutting up my old gate to use as a fill panel for the handle on the new gate and relocating the handle inside. We'll see how motivated I get.
Got the coolant leak fixed on the Corolla, cleaned & resealed the thermostat main housing & the outer housing & changed the heater hoses while in the area! Now on to a exhaust leak on the Mountaineer!
Is it one the exhaust manifold nuts thats loose? They're known for that. the nut fell completely off of one of the studs shortly after I bought mine.
