    I know I know not a mini-truck, but a toyota.

Getting ready to put the 20/22R hybrid (out of the truck) into the 77 coupe GT. I forgot to take a pic before, but the brake and clutch master were leaking fliud everywhere and boiled all the paint under em.

So a few hours fo sanding, cleaning, prepping and painting later...(I put 2 cans of undercoat on it, so its textured funny)

I think I came up with an idea while I was at it. The hardline to the right of the tunnel that shoots into the hood, Its a vent for the tank in the trunk. Im thinking of routing it up (to that little hole above it), and using a rear washer tank. The factory one is tiny, and more weight in the back the better. This thing is a feather light!

That was an 1/8 mile track? And the foam pillars was me probably. I just did it to my truck. I've told a few people to do it. Makes a decent difference on road noise.

Yea Byker, probably seen it in one of your threads. Just couldnt remember where.

I like the mod, def a good idea. Filling up a big air chamber...:waytogo: I need to make a cardboard "pocket" above the speaker hole and fill it thru the upper seatbelt bolt.

And yea, 1/8th. I let off after 2nd shift. "Blinking red lights behind me" reflex...

Got a new windshield in the truck yesterday. It was cracked bad from last winter. (I saw the defrosters heat break the thing as I drove it). The old seal was leaking.

And a texas state inspection sticker.

185 for the glass/ and gasket installed. 15 bucks for the inspection sticker.

:nana: Love driving a classic yota, inspections here are cheeps.

---And I got the crossmember and left front corner of the celica's engine bay painted---

    New carb on!

A holley 500 2bbl. with LC adapter and a cheapy air filter.

Here is a view of my intake. I took the pics to show how I did it. Its not matched AT ALL to the adapter/carb. Next time the intake off ill match it up.

The EGR and coolant vaccum valve got in the way of the linkage, I just hacksawed most of the vaccum valve down. And jambed some pipe adapter to fill up the EGR hole.

22R carb adapter to 20R intake as it was.

Impression  The carb is pure Nasty! Needs to be tuned, but it RIPS! Before my truck had to wind out 4th to get to 85-90mph. Now I can do it in third! 1st and 2nd gears are just bam, ...bam. 55mph just like that.

It shows just how restrictive a stock carb is. :verdict_in:

Got a big thing of all thread, some locknuts and some flat stock (to make a throttle linkage), and a pep boys return spring set for 20 more.

    Sunday evening.

Got around to making big progress on the Yota.

Pulled the 22R hybrid out. Im bummed that it never got to run Tonys 82. But Itll live a better life in the 77 Celi.

We pulled the trans first. A heavy SOB. Then yanked the motor...

Then I swapped the oil pans and sumps off both engines. The celica uses a mid sump set up, while the truck uses a rear sump.

    Heres a teaser V8 pic or 2...

    To be continued...

It fits great, so far as I can tell. The dual sump pan of the fox bodies will work perfect! Im stoked! I just "might" have to remove the steering dampener. But no big deal.

Dropped the 20R in and put the trans back in after it was bolted down. Hooked up the exhaust and rolled it down the street to my driveway so its out of the way.

Intake/exhaust/carb gaskets will be in tomorrow sometime. I plan to use a stock 20R intake, my hybrids old 22R carb and my LC adapter plate.

Its gotta go to the exhaust shop too to get a temporary system welded up. Gunna be quiet this time.

    To be updated...

Stayed working on the thing waay to late tonight.

I got the thing over to my work, then started to get the thing running.

I installed a stock 20R intake I got used somewhere. (free w/ a 20R carb). Used my LC adapter plate and mounted my 22R carb/air filter/linkage and a few vac. hoses. Reinstalled rad/fan/belt.

I noticed that the water pump that came on this engine was just about seized up and the block was filled with rust. I did my best to flush it out, and I broke free the water pump. But Ill get a new one soon. The alt belt is toast too.

So after about 4 hours work, I filled it up and fired it up. The 20R lives! Open header exhaust goes to the muffler shop tomorrow.

I noticed that I have two water leaks also. One at the thermostat gasket. The other at the bypass block thing under the intake on the head. :brickknock:

So driving it home (9 blocks w open exhaust) Im brutally reminded how "humble" the power of a 77 Toyota 20R is.....
