if the paint was original and the rust wasn't there i would totally leave it alone. but since it's gunna need some work i want to go satin black. i have a long time love of hot rods, but can't afford one.

have you given thought to a patina paint job? layer some different colors, sand it down, then flat clear it. It'll give ya that rundown look and still have clear. Plus its alittle different from flatblack (not that theres anything wrong with flat black ;) )

    OR

you can buy my Belair, then you'll have a hotrod :D

no, i did not think of a patina paint job, but i might look into it:waytogo:

and i already have a 64 impala, and 66 mustang. not really hotrods, but old american iron. i really want a chopped 27 T. there used to be one near my work, rusting away. i offered the owner $5,000 for it and she wouldn't sell it. it's still setting today:cry:

I can't stand when people do that. You know it's one thing to buy a project vehicle and store it for a few years but it should be a crime to let something rot in a field knowing damn well that you are never going to touch it and still won't sell it. I'd like to take these guys out behind the barn and knock some #%#^@^@ sense into them!

I got some parts for my belair from a car a guy had on the side of a mountain. He had been a wrecking service on like a 100 miles stretch of interstate for prob 50 years. He had well over 500 classic, and HIGHLY rare cars. Could have gotten millions prob if he would have addvertised it alot and sold them, but he got quick cash and crushed ALL of them:cry:

I have pics of it on my myspace under "car graveyard"...

great, now i want a V8 in my hilux

in all seriousness, that is gonna be some sick ****.

since you have a bunch of yota motors around, could you do me a favor?

measure the height/width/legnth of all you got floating around (8/18r 2Xr 1uz ect)?

and do you plan on going as low as the 86 with the hilux? any plans yet to deal with the less space of a V8?

well as i wait for my garage to have some space :( , i worked on my grille shell today. 4 hours worth of hand sanding and i'm half way done. somewhere in the last 27 years somebody sprayed "mexi-chrome" on it, and it was a bear to sand off.

i primed it, then painted the face of the center fins with ceramic aluminum engine paint. then i masked it and sprayed the flat black. i think it will fit the theme of the truck overall.
