Seriously, it's a really straight body for that old of a truck. I've seen so many American made trucks, even modern, with heavily damaged front ends. Great find, Bernie!
sweet looks pretty clean, check the floor boards for rust. you will find these are a whole lot easier to slam real low then newer trucks.
already checked the floorboard........... rust free!!!!!! the old man is the second owner and it was originally from new mexico.
Great find bro! Looks pretty clean...& yes I'm so jealous! Gonna look sweet once you start working on it
no.... i have a 6 foot brick wall around my place with a pit bull. and i live in a rural area with no hoa's.
wow how do you do it im stumped with 2 truck i got my xrunner and a 1964 chevy 10 pickup and i dont have time to do anything working to much but nice truck cant wait to see what you do to it what do you have planed restor bag drag race whats up with this lil guy???
damn man i wish i could have that many i can barely afford the civic and the yota lol but goodluck with this project man are you goin to finish your doored yota first or work on both at the same time?
i'm waiting on money for parts for the 86, which will be in may. for now i'm tinkering with this one. i pulled the bench and my friend is re doing it. i'm having him do it in black vinyl kinda like the old 60 cars, and he is making me new door panels to match. i also pulled all the old dash pad off cuz it was cracked in a thousand spots and i'm making a new one. i layed foil down on the dash and installed the steel piece that secures the pad to the dash, then used spray foam insulation and built up a rough shape. now i'm working on trimming it back to factory shape and will either upholster it or fiberglass it. i'm keeping the interior the stock red and black and will probably flat black the outside. i would post pictures of the dash i'm doing but i cant seem to find my camera.
I wish mine wasn't a daily so I could do some more work to it. Everthing I want to do is going to keep it down for more than a day or two and i'll spend 300 dollars in gas driving my car lol. I can't wait to see some progress on the truck though it's going to be sick. I'm guessing you're going with an old school look?
yeah, i want to keep the patina but the rust in the bed has to go and i want to extend the bed down to match the cab.
I was going to extend my bed aswell. Ya gotta add it at the very bottom of the bed though in order to keep the body lines lined up
i hope to bring my bed line down in a couple weeks. ive got a new bed im just gonna cut off the part infront of the wheel below the body line and tack it on the new bed. not sure if im gonna do behind the wheel or not. the roll pan looks kinda goofy when i mock it up in photoshop. bernie- when you do find your camera, can you take some pics of the front suspension? i wanna know if its different, or if the only difference between mine and yours is the grill/motor.
hey nuff, i did a photochop of the bed mod as well. it looks goofy to me if the back is left at factory length. i was thinking about extending it at the wheel well and angling the metal up to the factory rear. i'll take pics just as soon as the camera turns up.
i snapped these pics as i was leaving the guys house i also threw a battery in it to check all the electrical over. everything seems to be in working order!
Cool man! Love the look your aiming for its gonna turn out sweet! And at this rate your gonna run out of rrom in the back yard for all these Yota's! Lol.
