wha da project man i just read the whole thread and boy are you working it ... nice job ... i am on the front end of my 71 resto .. havint figured all details but after reading this i am really thinking of dropping my hilux but not on those skinny rubber bands that are rapping those b e a utiful rims ... just a side note for all you running rubber bands the side wall is your friend .. it protects the suspension and provides a smoother ride... i know you all that runs these love the look but looks only get you so far and then comes ..... you fill in the blank
this is such an inspiring build, it really makes me wish i would have "borrowed" one of the welders from school so i could get to work on my truck plus they never would have noticed one welder missing they had hundreds! but seeing as im an unemployed college grad i have no money or tools to get started on my truck again but hopefully that will change soon!
I always wondered why more poeple didnt do this. I like it way better then the stock way. Keep it man.
well im not sure if i love this truck or envy it too much and actually hate it.... make me want a cool old school lux for sure.... you def have worked out some amazing feats with this truck.. you gonna leave the top bed rail with the tie downs or go ahead and smooth it out
thanks guys nah it's gunna be shaved. thanks, i'm planning on shaving the top rail, but what i'm going to most likely do is get another truck bed (s-10/dakota/etc) and use the top of it so it looks like a newer bed. the wheel wells will be mocked after a 56 chevy bel air (neighbor has a 56, so it's an easy template). also i've decided to go with a tilt bed so i can run a solid sheetmetal floor.
so i finally did some work.... i'm planning on shaving the back cab wall, so i decided to see what was hiding behind the bondo on my passenger b pillar.. started repairing it today. i'm planning on having the cab and fenders in white paint for west coast nats. this big crease really shows how messed up it is underneath.. :x i tried my stud gun, but the crease was way too tight. so i cut the bad section out and and used a chromoly rod and a 6lb sledge to knock out the kink. then worked the body till it was pretty straight, and fabbed a patch. got it tacked in before i had to stop making noise
