lol, yeah i need to get with the program :D

that really sucks. i only have about $320 into all the steel i've bought, and that includes the entire frame materials. i've actually spent more on tabs and bushings from suicidedoors . all together though i've actually spent around $3k on it so far.

sounds good. i'm a stay at home dad so i'm sure i'll be here . don't worry bout the 20 though :)

    thanks guys.

i've decided to not use either of the available grilles... and i plan to fab this one. if it comes out really good, then i'll get it chromed, otherwise it'll be painted.

i'm not sure yet. maybe some hand made aluminum slats. the mesh would be a little less bling, but more attitude i think.

it reminds me of a 69 judge as well. not intentional, but after i got it roughed in it was screamin goat. but i think it'll be alright.

the drawing i made by tracing a picture of the truck. i used www.paint.net it's free. not as good as photoshop, but still does ok.

    thanks ashton!

did some work with the hood..... :D

    started with this

cut a big hole to let it close. motor sticks up about 1 1/2" too much. :x

took the skin of a 79 hood and increased the crown in it by rolling over my bmx bike tire several times

then i pie cut the hood so the edges will come down to stock height

the mark is the section that needs to be cut out

and got the one side tacked down

this is the beginning of my new core support

I can picture what you were talking about, now, with the other hood on there. That's going to come out real nice! Keep it going.

got the rest of the pie cut tacked. also grafted the 79 skin into the 73 hood support

wire wheeled and primed the supports since they had surface rust.

79 skin is now on the 73 support

would have taken more pics but the camera battery is dead, and i can't find the charger :(

not much but here is a update

Here is how the 79 skin fits the 73 hood..

This is the left corner of the grille that I’m making..

And the core support so far. The angle with the holes is temporary until I get the center fabbed..

i get them at a local steel yard. (agate steel in scottsdale az)

don't go to home depot or lowes... for the price they charge for a 4' piece of metal, you can usually pick up a 20' piece at a steel supply company.

i'd suggest googling steel supply near your area. there should be one pretty close by.
