sorry if its a dumb question, but the 7m is different from the 2jz or are they the same motor, just called different things? The previous motor maybe?

Anyways nice swap and good job. Im assuminig you had to change out the ECU as well as the engine harness and all of that?

    7M is different from 2JZ.

    2JZ Succeeds the 7M.

one more question. Is it easier to do this swap instead of a 2jz? (price, size, power)

And the 2jz makes more power right? how much more?

a 2jz motor will cost you at least twice more, yes it does have more power and potential for huge HP..but a stock 7m vs a 2j i think your looking about a 100hp difference..advantage 2jz

Thats some great improvement, looks hella clean now with that primer and new wheel :waytogo:

I pefer 4 banger instead especially with gas creeping up, won't have a issue in cruising around. Wouldn't mine having a quick truck like this

Do you race by the way? Because whenever i go to town these sukkas mini truck rangers, s-10, ****ty cars always trying to race me, i still smoke them but not much  Can't beat toyota :eyecrazy:

I've been through these situations where Ranger's would pull up next to me... or some ghetto Mazda. they back off after i get on teh gas for a lil bit.

Yup^ Exactly. Think of the 7M motor as the budget Supra motor swap. then the 2JZ for the higher end Supra motor swap lol

to my understanding some of the xMGT motors came with w5x transmissions, otherwise its belhousing at worst between the xmgt, 2xr, and several other toyota engines.

from what i have read online, the 5M celica supra (mk2 supra) mounts will work with a little bit of hole reaming. might try those, and maybe modify them from there. i also read that cressidas had a different oil pan sump location. and 5M pans are interchangable too i think. so, maybe that info helps. im wanting to do a 7MGE at some point. my friends bf has a supra, and is gonna swap in a turbo block and will sell me the motor and tranny for 200 bucks. i could get wiring at the junkyard.

looks good though. more pictures of how it all fits would be cool. how are you for underside clearance?

Yea ill get some pics of how it fits and clears underneath.

As for the motor mounts is your truck a 4cyl or V6? The mounts are in different locations. Mine had a V6 so all i did was use the 86 to 87 style motor mounts.. they match up to my truck framemounts. I cut mine off the fram and moved them back about 2inches and rewelded them to the frame. Worked out really well. But you cant use the new style 7m mounts. They are different.

Ill get somepicsup! Just gotto "borrow" my gf's camera!

I used the combo 22re and 5m mounts to get my motor in.

These pics below are of another guys truck with a supra motor swap aswell. I used these for reference when i did my swap. The pics shows how he notched his pan for clearance. For me i didnt have to do that but im like 4mm away from hitting it. Just have to play with the mounts...
