good idea but what I was referring to was cutting the stock stick below the chrome and welding the open end of the wrench on the stub, I could weld the nut on the stub and find the wrench that fits it and weld it to the nut too that would look cool then weld a nut in the box end and screw two bolts into it to make a t handle shifter [oh **** my minds running circles now around this idea ill have to find a 1 inch wrench and some hardware and get one going now]
My mind is also running with this. Im thinking box end welded to nut. Threaded onto shifter. Nice chrome snapon stubby wrench that would feel awesome. (I to am a mechanic.
You can go pick up "tuner" lug nuts at the auto parts store and they are basically a long nut. Any lug nut that is 12x1.25 will thread right onto our shifters. I like the tuner lug nuts because they are rounded, without the exterior "lugs" that make it look like a nut. Gives it a cleaner look. Weld whatever you want on the top and you are good to go! If you look back a few pages, thats what I did with the antique door knob I made. The base was metal, so I just welded it onto the bottom (wheel side) of the lug nut. The part that took the star wrench had about a half inch before the threads started, so it worked out nicely to sink down over the threads and cover them up like the original shifter does. Hope this helps.
the little stub wrench t handle would be a good idea on a stock shifter stick but im going for a far out look
+10000^^^^^ ALSO I ended up test fitting a snap on screw driver handle. Fits awsome nice and big. Ordered a little different style blue one from the snapon truck this will do for now.
my idea for the bowie knife is sticking out of the dash if I use an automatic mount it on a camero auto center console shift unit under the dash cable operated down to the trans and I want the hole to be like the knife gashed the metal like its stabbed in there though about using a axe to make the hole just one chop and stick the knife in tack it to the shifter make sure it can go through the range of motion required and finish weld it up
HAha very funny. Thats what I think about people with the long thin budweiser tap handles. I like it so stfu lol EDIT EDIT EDIT. I removed the crown royal shift boot. Red and purple do NOT go well together
no hard feelings man hey hows the mini scene in olympia my aunt lives there and when I visited as a kid I remember a lot of Nissan hardbodys with static drops rollin on 15 in wagon wheels. I remember seeing sparks fly on the highway when they hit a dip they were so slammed [aah those were the days]
Its not bad. There's a couple yotas that are pretty sweet. Baggs are rare from what I see cruzin mostly small slow builds. Lots of hardbodies cruzin around low. Theres a gob of hondas. But I think thats everywhere. I gotta just find whos who in mini trucks around here to find em.
im a bit north but theres lots of local dudes. I dig the screw driver. I have seen a bowie knife. Ill find the pic.
Finally got off my butt and took a pic that shows the shifter knob. Just a plastic "8 ball" golf ball. I drilled it deep so it keeps the handle short.
That's rad. Never thought of a golf ball. Every time I steal a pool ball at a bar we end up losing it or using it for target practice lol. Never have made one a shifter. You should drill more golf balls and stack them up the stick
