What's up everyone?! I just picked up a new project ride, a 1984 Pickup. My family, mostly my dad and I are complete Toyota Pickup lovers. My Dad and I have 2 Toyota trucks a piece. My dad has a 89 SR5 and a 85 with EFI and I have a 89 22RE and a 84. I have big plans for the little truck. Below is a teaser pic' until I get a hold of a digital camera.

Doesn't look too bad. Is that a bench seat cover or the original upholstry? And below the radio... Is that the factory alarm system? Show us some pix as you move along:)

I've been wanting to get mirrors like that and the vented front windows since I got mine. Oh well, I can get the vents at a Junkyard and similar mirrors at Auto Zone. It will be interesting to see what you are going to do with it.

The white truck is a 1989 2WD V6 SR5, it had the 3VZ-E Head Gasket issue. It's actually for Sale since it's not currently running.

Man, head gasket issues suck! Happened to me, but my 22RE still ran (on three cylinders), otherwise I couldn't have taken it to the shop. Eventually, I do want to replace the 22RE for maybe another or (hopefully) the turbo. Even though it's a Toyota, I'd love to put in an RB26DETT, HILUX GT-R bro!

After I finish this project, I have another lined right up. I found a 1995 Pickup with a straight body that's missing the engine, sounds like a good reason to drop in a 2JZGTE. The guy wants 300 bucks for the rolling shell.

Sounds like a great plan. When you're finished with this one, show us your process on the next. D***, now I want to start my own project thread, but I don't have the money to do anything with mine... d*** economy and f***en crappy job...

This is when its the best time to find and do small projects. i did alot of small things to my truck when i was in high school and only worked part time..ur a 4x4 guy, i know u want to move ur computer up higher in the cab or something along that line..im sure u can find something that wont cost a thing to do..

Well, you can hardly even call it part-time. I don't even know if my shift's durations are legal. 2 hours each time I come in and only a few times a week! I am still looking for a new job, but still no success. Since my truck was abused, I've had a lot of expensive (or so to my budget) repairs. I still owe money for the fuel pump and I owe the state money in taxes, but I heard I may be getting some cash back... hopefully enough to cancel out what I owe. I mean, the highest I got my bank account to in 2 years was $1,500, then my head gasket issue was immediately apparent, now after everything else I had to do, I've only got $60.:(

    Small Update

Really quick update: sending two wheels off to be sand blasted and powdercoated, I'm going to do a high gloss black for the rim and the beauty ring and lug nuts will be matched with something that gives good contrast against shiny black. I'm thinking a bright red or yellow for JDM stylin'. This is the "before" pictures of the rim.

You can't match the finish with spray paint.
