Can you take a pic of the driver's side of the block? I'm looking for the Laser casting symbol... It was hard to tell if it's there with the nice black paint... :D

I also noticed your crank is not @ TDC in the pic with your son... idk, maybe my eyes are playing tricks on me...

sure did, they are shipping me all the missing stuff..i wasn't about to drive back there!
where abouts on the block? what is the laser casting symbol for? No its right before 12 oclock..it doesn't matter if its at TDC right now tho does it? the dots on the cam sprocket and crank sprocket both line up with the shiny links...Are you referring to TDC for the valve adjustment? I sure as hell am gonna check the valves before i put it back in after what i found tho!...

    This symbol: http://www.lcengineering.com/TechNotes/TechNote49.htm

Now is a good time to have it @ TDC... For valve lash setting and when you go to set your distributor. I just remembered that your EFI so crank should be @ 5* BTDC when installing your distributor. So you should be ok. :waytogo:

The symbol is just to verify you got a '85-'95 block... And for my personel research regarding Chinese copies. I know they are coming out in mass numbers on the west coast, ebay is cluttered with em'. Just a heads up bro! :waytogo:

My source in Cali told me the cranks and rods are not forged, just plain jane steel... Probably recycled steel... :eyecrazy:

    Cool, it's got the symbol.

Just to be clear, there's is no etching of the word "laser". It's that embossed casting shape that your looking for, kinda looks like this: oOo

Pre '85 blocks don't have it. It was casted in for the Turbo option.

As for it being a chinese copy, im still uncertain... I haven't seen one up close in person... You got a warranty, so you should be fine... :waytogo:

looking good man. I like the color combo. I hope this motor works out for you and lasts.
I also like the bike in the garage. After being out there I understand why there so popular out on the west coast. Nice rides and some mountain riding what else could you ask for.

What all did they do for that 600? What was the turnaround time? Would you recommend them?

Hey was up man, I took it to auto spec engines/ machine in Phoenix, almost Peoria, it has been a total PITA the owner talked a good game, actually very knowledgable, but....if you read back a couple posts i said what happened, missing bolts, missing dipstick tube, that i am STILL waiting for! timing chain was off, valves were not how i would have set em up...it was a long block, i got the block done, and head, and new timing cover, chain, oil pump

those things i mentioned are small but have been a huge pain, i can't start it yet because im waiting on the dipstick tube, they were supposed to mail it to me on Monday, called em weds and they barely shipped it..

but i'll let you know after i get a chance to run it!
