So I finally had a warmer day (above freezing) and worked a little on the interior. This is my mechanicals behind my seat (extended cab) that I wanted to cover I closed it in with plywood and covered it with carpet (trunk liner). I made the top in two pieces for easier removal, the seam lines up with the back pad that was there for the rear jump seats. Also left a one inch lip on the front to help keep things from rolling off the front when braking and such. I like how it came out.
Well I got some seats put in, they are out of a "00" Celica. I thought by staying with Toyota that maybe some of the brackets on the bottom of the seat would be usable.. but no, I had to cut them all off and make all new ones. These where the lowest profile ( to the floor ) seats I could find. You can't see, but these have the head rest built right into the seat. Not really what I wanted but I figure later down the road I can cut it off and have them reupholstered to give them that low back look, they are pretty comfortable. Also made a console and covered it with a brown faux leather. Going to use the same on the door cards. Now I have an electrical problem also, I plugged my wiper motor in and it runs non stop . I can unplug the column switch and it still keeps running , so it's getting constant power when it shouldn't be. What fun, that was literally the last electrical thing I plugged in.
I'm not super sure, but most accessories in our truck switch to ground to complete the circuit. That means everything has 12 volts to it. So you may be looking at a ground problem with that wiper motor. The center console turned out really nice! That vintage brown matches the steering wheel quite well.
Yes, it turned greener. It was originally stock Toyota green, I was going to paint it olive drab but then found this color called army green and went with that. Not sure I like it, I guess it's kind of growing on me. I should have stayed with my original thought of olive drab.
Olive drab is a bit darker.. and flat. Also one of my favorite greens. Is that the color you're going with on the inside?
Not much actual paint on the inside, it's all plastic panels and such. My door door jams are painted to match the exterior, army green.
I rattle canned my truck the 2nd day I owned it.. industrial gloss black.. in an alley way..hahahah it was red originally. I can't believe it's held up with minor chips up front after 6yrs.. no sanding, no prep, nothing but a quick wipe down.. haha
Not rattle can. I used a single stage paint w/ sprayer. Got it from a place called The Coating Store. It's not flat, it's what they call low sheen.
