Update on my cyl. head. turns out that the shop has put 20r valves in the intake. So they replaced the valves with 22r ones and checked compression and now it's all good. So it's just a matter of going by and picking it up and getting a new head and intake gasket. then i get to find out how the revised exhaust sounds. I hope it's now to loud, but i do know it will be not as loud as before.
haven't done a lot to it, i have been busy building a soap-box durby car for my boy's cub scout pack. I did get the new head gasket and intake gasket along with a new center link that has been in need of replacing for a long time. i came across it on rockauto parts, one of them get it now for a very cheep price. $35.00 no joke I got it for that price and my yot is one with power searing. Normally it cost 135.00.
Yea, my son is excited about it, this is his first derby race. Next is to fig. out how to bag it............. hummmm, maybe next year. lol
well this weekend was a good one. boy's had fun in Gurdon Ar at the cub-scout derby. got there and found out that it was over weight so we had to take the back fin off. speed wise it didn't win but it got faster once the boys figured out how to keep it straight. lol it placed in show, but all the boys had fun and that's what matters most. truck wise, i got the head back and got it all put back together and once it got gas to the carb it fired up and purrs like a panther. with the revised exhaust it sounds a lot better and not so loud but still has a bad ass sound. runs good so now i have to get all the small stuff finished so it will be street legal. woohoo for good weekends.
I sooooo need to get a better vid, but i got a basic stupid phone so i deal. I'll get m woman to get a vid with her smart phone so you can hear and see it better. lol hold on uploading it again...................................................................
looks like the only was to make it work is direct link. :-( Mobile Uploads :: 1028121318-1.mp4 video by ratrod_s10 - Photobucket
ok a update. a lot has been done but still not complete. modified the mounting brackets once i fig. out where they needed to go. mount/welded the upper hinges to the bottom of bed. close up of the insides of my air system box. not all hooked up but in the process of replacing all of the air lines and wires. Next is to order (2) 250# lift supports to lift the bed with very little effort and mount them.
sorry if some pics are not showing up. i rearranged my photo-bucket, so if u want to see a pic that is not showing up just let me know.
It still uses the org. hood latch in the same stock location. The back side of the hood that is closest to the windshield as of right now just rest there. I will have to come up with some kind of slide-in tab thing. Smiler to t-top keeper tabs is what I'm thinking.
It uses the org. hood latch in the org. location. Not at this time i have noticed it flapping or anything when driving, but i haven't had it pass 55 mph either.
on that note, it drives great and handles wonderful. the only issues i have so fare is the exhaust is still to loud and the way the pipe is with the sharp point it worries me when i back up. i fear it might hang up on something and bend it all up. The bed is fine but i will be installing a latch, smiler to a reg hood latch to keep it in place and to reduce the vibration sounds.
this time next week i will be getting it all legal and be driving it, just in time for the cold wet snowy weather................................. blaaaaaaa
