to be honest, i thought i liked them too but for me, im going back to 2wd fenders up front to accent the staggered look..... they bulge out a little too much for my liking....... dunno, i have a set of both fenders so we shall see.... i think most is that i dont like the sunken wheel look.
Alot of the guys at s-10 forums sit a 2x4 next to a 4x4 block and then drive up onto that, jack truck up, work, let down, drive off...lol
thats essentially what imma end up doing. its bad enough i couldnt stick half my arm under there before the drop....... now i can maybe stick my hand through
more progress was made today.... coke can stands 5" tall. the fram sits 1" below the rim. that x-member is gonna be trouble at only 2" of clearance my driveway already got "broken in" by my strut arm brackets 3" steel blocks were put in from Beefed Taco
ahh, the lower we go, the more fun it is, progress is looking good. . . I plan on chaging my x member out with Seth's ( twisted mini ) but, Im so enjoying dragging it off " oops - not on purpsoe thou " Its my failsafe, I know if its draggN the front x member is hella close since it sits a tad higher that the tranny x member - and it makes it a fun drag bar. . .
That's ridiculous low!! I have the same lower arms right here. I got em from DJM Suspension. I hope those tires don't hit the fenders on bumpy corners. It looks close. You can't say that doesn't look close right there!
my lowest x-member is that tubular one under the bellhousing. it sits around 2" off the ground i should be fine overall. im at around 4" on the frame rails. its definately fun tho.... all my buddies coming around to take a look just gawk at how low its gone... i got them through Summit racing. they were ~$195, $207 shipped to my door. here's the link to them... http://store.summitracing.com/partd...925130+4294839061+4294848363+115&autoview=sku by the way, a slight note on these arms...... they are advertised as 88-95 applications but they fit perfectly on my 86. i checked into it at a local wrecking yard. they had a 95 sitting there and i verified it.... they will fit and my truck is proof they do. only difference i was told is the bolt size for the lower balljoint may be bigger on some models (10mm or 13mm) so DJM advises to just drill them out with a 1/2 inch bit to accomidate the larger bolts. thats all.
yea........ it is close and they currently do rub since i havent adjusted the torsions yet and pulled/rolled the fenders yet but they will clear.
man that is low..guess im going to have to look at just how low my 1st truck actually sits.. cant wait to see the fenders rolled LOOKIN GOOD!!
thanks guys. still sorting out a few rub issues here and there. the blocks were made by member Beefed Taco. he makes awesome stuff! here's a picture i took of his block kit. for the price you pay from any other place for a set of cheap unsafe cast aluminum blocks (prone to cracking....i whent through 2 sets) you cant beat his steel ones. he also tapers them any way shape or form you want em in.
it actually dropped 1 more inch when i cut the x-member from behind the cab. the truck was actually being held up by the driveshaft that much anyhow, im heading up to brian (beefed taco's) place sometime within a few days to weld up my new higher crossmember. on a separate note, i noticed im gonna have to seriously watch my approach angle on my driveway .........................
holy sh1t dude, your low.. I wish i were static dropped that low... I dont know how I would manage though. the speed bumps at my school are mean ! I lost my exaust to them multiple times
guess ther comes a time when being to low can be a prob. but hey just dot rush outta the driveway and u should be fine. What part of the x member did u have to cut?
yea........ definately no blitzing the driveway.... here's the portion i cut out of the rear cab x-member.
Now thats looking pretty, Great Job, the hard part is learning how to drive being so d**n LOW! Keep up the good work . . .
yea...... its a challenge. i went driving around town and its a trip! man its hard.... one more shot i took....
