cable, generally speaking there is a relative trade-off between like-sized starting batteries and deep-cycle batteries. Starting batteries will generally offer more cranking power at the expense of reserve capacity and vice versa for deep-cycle batteries. So in a sense, deep-cycle batteries are “weaker” in terms of the cranking amps they provide, when compared to a comparby-sized starting battery. However, starting batteries are “weaker” than deep-cycle batteries when it comes to reserve capacity and the ability to be cycled over the life of the battery.

I also have two RedTops in my diesel, but my accessories are all stock. Beyond high-cranking applications (like diesel engines), YellowTops are better-suited for applications where multiple batteries are needed, especially car audio. That's not to say that a RedTop (or RedTops) won't work in those situations, but over the long haul, one would be better off with a battery designed for deep-cycle applications.

DROPT, unfortunately, I'm not involved in the sales end of things for Optima at all. However, when we do have special promotions, we do announce them on our Facebook page. I don't know what your truck looks like, but you are also welcome to fill out a sponsorship application.

    I changed from a OPTIMA yellow top 34/78, to a ODYSSEY PC 1500DT 34/78
All the specs are better, better warranty, longer life & faster recover times.
    I run a 140 amp alternator,also !

It was not a expense issue,it was what is going to work the best.
I drive to lots of shows ,near & far. Some you may wait in line for some time .
There is not a lot of voltage output below idle on most alt. & battery drain can & will happen, with lights, cooling fan & stereo all running, not to mention the compressors if your playing!
Also a bad or very low battery will cook your alt., so putting a fail safe system together is of most importance.
