Thanks, guys. Definitely plan on custom fitting some sort of LED lighting and putting a switch up at the top of the handle where the original switch was. But here are some pics of what I consider the jack-of-all-jacks. My dream-jack. Another Blackhawk currently being brought back to life by it's owner. Already in negotiations for one.
Got it! My dream jack. 1940's Blackhawk 2-Ton "SJ-18" (cast aluminum shell) floor jack. Purchased out of Dana Point, Orange County, California, from a man in his eighties. He inherited it from his father, the original owner.
damn thats a sexy piece of equipment!! i'd restore it then build a display case for the garage!! nice find!
Thanks, Bernie. Yeah, that's pretty much the plan for this one. Although it's a fully functioning unit, it's considered one of those extremely tough finds in any condition. Here's one taken down to bare metal by collector I came across online.
4-ton Received a phone call yesterday from a relative who came across a local CL ad with this fully functioning 1940's 4-ton Blackhawk "S-4". Ad stated "best offer...just need it out of the garage asap." Being the first to respond all it took was $10 and a case of RockStar which I get for free at work. At well over 100 lbs. it's a monster! Here are some pics taken from the ad. Here's a fully refurbished one including a working headlight, owned by a collector I came across online. An old magazine ad that has both the S-4 and my favorite SJ-18.
damn joe find me a sj-18 too!! they are sexy! it'd be way cooler then my crappy harbor freight jack that leaks oil every where lol
I'll keep an eye out for you, Bernie. But they're silly tough. A friend from Texas spotted mine on CL (Orange County) Los Angeles. I had to make a phone call to relatives in SoCal, who then had to drive an hour away to pick the thing up for me. Looking to pick it up when I head down for West Coast Nationals. But, yeah, I'll let you know if I come across another. Check these links out... http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=64948 http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=62785
