The bumper I have is for an '87-'88 2WD Toyota Pickup. Be sure to get the bumper brackets and the lower valance with it. I used my original lower valance, but it took some redneck engineering to get it on.

If all the trucks were the same style and paint, think of how easy it would be to work a beater back into shape.
Or is that too socialist for thought?

So Monday I took of from work so I coulpd spend all day installing brakes, shocks, spindles, lowering blocks and bushings. I have a few questions:

    1. I'm using a lift so I can get off my knees and work on it but lets say its on the lift with the tires hanging and I'm installing the rear blocks and bushings - should I remove the shocks and loosen the u-bolts, then remove the bolts that hold the bushings for the leaf springs in first, or what would the preferred order be for this job. I've never worked with leaf springs and I'm not sure how much energy is stored in those things.

    2. If your standing underneath the truck facing the rear, what direction would you rotate the torsion bars for the truck to move upwards or downwards?

Thanks - anything else I need to have or should think of before Monday?

once its in the air there shouldn't be any "spring" in the leafs.

staring at it as above the pass side would go clockwise and the drivers counterclockwise. you just need to loosen the torsion bolts.

Okay, see here she sits after a trip to the alignment shop and the following installed items by myself on Monday:

    Belltech 2" spindles
    new rotors / pads
    upper & lower ball joints
    belltech shocks
    new brake lines
3" blocks in rear w belltech drop shocks
    bushings replaced in rear
    starions put on 16 x 7 front / 16 x 9 in rear

Notes: I'm happy with the overall look / drop. I do wish I would have meesed around with the torsion bars first, as I might not have needed the drop spindles at all - I know you advised me of that BYE. Anyway my only issue is the rear Starions, I really did not expect them to stick out from the truck like they do, I like my wheels tucked and really dispise this look right now. As far as I know I have two options:
1 - roll the fenders to accomodate the wider wheels
    2 - Buy some 16 x 7 Starions for the rear

I'm inclined to seatrch for the 16 x 7's and if anyone wants to trade some 16 x 7's for these that would be great to, again when I look at the pics from Blazinrola's truck they tucked nicely, maybe he rolled the fenders.

Anyway here she is, its raining and the pics aen't great but it gives you an idea.

    Just roll the fenders.

You could also try getting a different offset rear rim.

Thanks BYE, really appreciate the look out! I think I'd be happier with the same size wheels as the front.

I think you called it BYE, upon further inspection this morning it appears that the jap bed has almost no fender flare at all, it appears that it has a flare but its more a visual look than an actual flare. Remember I had the american bed with the same meat on the fender as Blazinrola but switched it out for this Jap bed as it was lessed damaged, had less rust, etc. The point is that there's not enough fender to roll, or it can't be rolled out as much as I need it to, so I'll be looking for 16 x 7 starions. I did find two on ebay for 150.00 - I'm just about tapped out on spending $ for this truck but...thanks to all for the help.

Your truck looks great. I may be able to help you out on the 16x7 rims.

Let me see what I can do.

    Just curious
What was the bill from the body shop? For body work and paint.

Well it's hard to say because I did some work for this guy last year and he owed me the body work and paint in return so I didn't pay anything except for the jap bed ($200 on craigslist) and the paint at $125 - someone else can chime in but this was easily about $2,000-$2,500 in body work and paint I believe.

hey man, keep the wheels but go with a different tire out back....

i have a 205/55 in the rear and its good enough to tuck a 6 inch drop back there :waytogo:

honestly, unless yer running turbo or massive power, they dont need much tire out back. gives you a bit more power back too.

i was running the 16x9 rears and a 245/50 tire....... it rode nice but man did it rub and slow the truck down!

Wow, see those last two trucks is what I want - nice and tucked, but mine is not even close, I think the Jap bed fender flare is that much different.

I do have one correction to make, the rears are 16 x 8 with 215/55/16's - initially I had said they were 16 x 9 but I was mistaken.

Are those 16 x 8's in the rear of the white truck?
