I love those pics with the Tacomas. Your 77 makes them look like full size trucks. :p

Thanks guys. It was not much of an accomplishment though. It is pretty much the way I bought it. Except for those awesome flaps a new antanna and mats. Oh and a little Japanese flag decal.

I have been collecting old pictures and info and like to share it with you. If you have anything to share, let me know. :D

You can download a zip file here

(The file size is about 10 Mb)

I cleaned up my dashboard today.
There was an after market intermittent wiper that I relocated to the spare switch spot on the right. Too bad it shorted so I had to bring it to a guy that was able to repair it.
I also painted the letters silver and cleaned up the wire mess under the dash.
Radio works again and I topped it off with a couple of weathertech mats.

I'd like to find a working clock or a small period correct tachometer to put in that square spot on the left.

Here are some before and after pics:

I took the bench out and the dash pad and brought it to the upholsterer.

I am having it upholstered with fresh vinyl (same color)
With any luck I will have my stuff back at the end of the week.

Looks great buddy. Nice work on the interior. A standard 2-1/16" gauge will fit that square if you take a file and make one edge slightly rounded. The four corners are open, but a small trim price could solve that. I used to have a 2" tach there. I made a real fascia panel for it. I believe tercels had a clock that fits the opening. May have to figure out the wiring yourself. Not many spare plugs on the harness. I think the only open plugs on my dash harness are where the hazard switch gets itself lit up (I like it dark so it's unplugged) and the green map light above the radio. They make too much light at night. I plan to put a switch inline to the map light and plug it back in. So I can use it when the markers are on if I want it.

Also if you take out the dash vent on the left side and take it apart a gauge can fit there too. I mounted a 2-5/8 digital tach in mine. Then wired it and it doesn't work lol. Looks cool tho so I left it. Take it out with a flathead at the 12 o clock position. Then a few clips to seperate the parts. You only need the frot ring. Gauge usually has a bracket mount to them. I've also heard of guys using the entire hole on the dash for a 3-3/8 but they don't fit as well. I can get pics or you can find them in my build.

I finally got my bench seat and dash pad back. It took way longer the thought but I have to say, he did a good job.

He didn't do my dash pad after all because he was afraid to screw it up. He thought it might be a better idea to go to someone that does dashboard repairs. Covering with vinyl would not look right according to him because it has too many curves and edges. At least he honest about it.

Look at what the previous owner sent me. The original window sticker. I love it and could'nt be happier

$3,886.70 of 1977 dollars would be worth: $15,006.56 in 2013 money

And Stewie has been putting along for 36 years without major repairs or costs.
    Talk about a good deal.

I love it how they state the standard equipment as if they are luxury items, things we take for granted now, like padded visors and inside hood release. Fascinating.

Still looks great buddy! Ill keep an eye out for dash pads. They're pretty hard to find tho.

I love seeing it next to the FJ. If you ever wanna swap a few FJ interior parts to the lux I have some. Like metal door handle backers and metal window cranks. Some other little goodies too.

The original sales slip is awesome. I have the ones to my cousins 74. I like how they made it an option to have a solid panel inside the tailgates lol. Some were hollow like the bed.
