see i live in a place called maryland heights in missouri and we have some a**hole cops here but i used to run one on my 83 then took it off and ran just a straight cat. they never once messed with me then i bought a 93 bonniville and they would roll me every chance they got. they basicly just look for cars that gang banger and lil thugs would roll around in. anytime they would see my truck they would pretty much laugh at me

You know how most 4-bangers if you pull the muffler out it'll just sound like rice? Well the thing about 22RE's is that they somehow just sound ****ing low at idle. Of course when you hit "high" RPM... lol 4800 is high... it'll sound like every 4 banger, but its somehow just deep. yeah, loud and hollow kinda describes it.

its everyone's different point of view.

I say try unbolting your muffler system from the cat and decide if you like it. Its loud.... but when your truck's front pipe break right after the exhaust manifold, you will really know what the definition of loud is...

Idk, i'd rather go with a quieter system. People think my truck sounds like **** sometimes. I like it. But if i were to put on a muffler, I'd probably pull a Muffler from a Lexus LS430... Why? Because since the muffler was designed to "Flow" a 4.3L motor... and still be quiet... It will basically be "high-flow" for a 2.4L motor... and still be quiet :)

So if you try to put our mufflers on a Lexus... it'll be more restrictive for that setup.... damn why is it so hard to explain stuff?!

Cinnamon its funny that you mention that. Just the other day i noticed my muffler was hanging. I take a look underneath and both hooks that are supposted to be holding my muffler are gone. The only thing holding it up was the tail pipe and the mount by the cat. The flange by the cat also broke since it was hanging for i dont know how long.

Anywho im running late for work, so it becomes one of those i fix it tomorrow thing. On the way to work my tail pipe falls off. I look at it later and it broke right when it comes out the muffler. Theres maybe a 1/4" and you can see where it broke off.

So i used tire wire to tie my muffler back up, but the flange by the cat already busted from when it fell off so im kinda running only cat. Sometimes when i engine break i listen to my muffler and it makes that "popping" sound exhausts make. Pretty awsome.

Dont know what im gonna do though. Might just cut my muffler out and run just cat, since its sorta like that anyways. My dad says it sounds like a bee, but it doesnt bother me.

Also i dont want to put exhaust cause to me its more fun keeping up with other cars/trucks that have exhaust and sound like their going fast and your still right there next to them. I want to cut the cat out and run 2" piping from the headers to the stock muffler(cut inlet hole larger) and see how that goes.

In conclusion. Haahha. Dang it is hard to explain stuff on here. Thank you for reading my essay

Nice, I love the popping. so where does the exhaust currently end? Cat only... any pipe after the cat? I have a foot long worth of cat and it points left at the end... kinda.

Is your truck auto or manual? Either way, Gradually accelerate to 30mph (slowly..) and then when you are hovering at 30mph, go WOT INSTANTLY, MAN IT GETS SOOO LOUD I LOVE DOING THAT!!!

    its fun huh?

Nah the flange after the cat is leaking and then it continues onto the muffler and no tail pipe.

lol i got to get my camera from my ex tonight so i will have them up in the morning. i dont have the emblem on yet cuz i cant find one at any of the local junk yards. there isnt a single toyota pickup in any of the ones around here which makes things hard to find. the closes i got is one off the back of a camry but i dont want to super glue it on. and for the lowering im going with the lower control arms and blocks in the back for now. im still trying to decide if i want to invest in bags or throw a 7m in it. but im hopefully heading to texas heatwave in july so that might make me make a decision alittle better
