Yeah they're the ****ty fauxjectors which I didn't realize til they showed up but for now I'm fairly happy with them. Mainly just happy that I can see while driving now haha. Can't wait to get some new wheels and shocks on it. Still debating if I want to do KYB MonoMax's or Toxic's. I'm probably gonna redo the hood soon. Got an air bubble somehow and when I went to push it out after it being frozen it just completely split so there's a little bit of the blue showing through but its not too bad. Gonna hopefully do the Toyota logo across the tailgate with my leftover liner when I wake up in the morning. I think it'll look sweet with the matching woodgrain on the back as well.
Not much has been going on with the truck other than ordering my new KYB Monomax's today so hopefully I will have them by this weekend. Then hopefully can get my new wheels and tires ordered up. Thinking I'm going to go with these: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/brw-942791245/overview/ with 205/40s or these: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/crr-3657812/overview/ I'm leaning towards the Blackrock 17x9's because they're what I had originally wanted to put on when I first bought the truck. Plus jyaortead's truck basically confirmed my love for the look they pull off.
Well my Black Rocks are on their way as I type this and just set up a deal to pick up a 7mgte next Friday (3/7) to eventually swap into my truck. Beyond excited for this new found fun that I will be working on. Will hopefully have a more interesting build thread once this begins.
So to static drop the front you have to swap the Control arms side for side ? can't just drop torsion ? or spindles ? nice build man.. I have a 94 extcab im static dropping ..
All I have done to my front end for a drop is a ball joint flip and loosening the torsions to match the rear. There are How-To write ups on the ball joint flip and torsion adjustments. I'd recommend following SD_Yota's torsion rekey setup. I still need to go back and do that.
Forgot that I have gotten my front KYB MonoMax's installed. Haven't gotten to do the rears yet since I need to replace one of the bolts (head snapped off of it) Here are a couple pics of them on the drivers side. [/IMG] [/IMG]
How do you like the monomaxxes? Whats your drop? Are you willing to sell that factory radio? Truck looks good.
So far I love the Monomax's. about 4/4. BJ Flip up front with 3 washers and then torsion adjusted to meet the 4" angled block I have in the rear. I'd be willing to sell it, just shoot me an offer for it and we can go from there.
Well my super part time job is really holding me back on buying parts and things I need to get the truck the way I want it but it will eventually get there. In the mean time here's a pic of the tailgate that I've updated with some left over woodgrain from my hood project. ordered a new radiator with 2 12" fans to work with the 7mgte once that gets set to go in. Got the 5m engine mounts so it'll hopefully just bolt in. Hoping to do the swap in July, if not sooner. Also got a HVLP kit from Dipyourcar's website. Got their newest one specifically designed for spraying plastidip. Should be able to spray the truck in the next couple months
hey thats sad how the u bolts dug in to your axle, you should fill that in with weld so it doesn't get worse. I might have a u bolt spring plate for you That GTA Hilux is a bastard haha it has the body shape of a 2nd gen xcab with the Canadian Stepside style bed. The 1st gen front grill round head lights and lower valance blend in like a first gen but the front fenders are shaped like a seond gen. gotta love renditions
I think the ubolts had just been there so long without being moved that a nice crusty layer of dirt and stuff had built up around it. There isn't any indenting on the axle itself so it should be fine. If you do have one or are able to find one you would be a life saver!! my rear shock is just being held on by the sheer force of it being compressed down and the tension doesn't let it pop off luckily. It's only slightly terrifying haha Also not much has been done to the truck as I am still gathering parts and such for my 7MGTE swap. Have my wheels set but don't have tires on them yet which sucks but I don't want to put new rubber on them just to have them sit there while the engine swap happens.
Hey Erick, I apologize for taking so long to get back to you. I replied to your PM just now. Mine seem to be a bit larger with a hump across the middle of the bottom side of the plates. Sent you a couple pics that I tried to snap while I had the truck jacked up.
