if you plan on running with no bed your going to here a lot of negative comments at shows on how your 4 link bars are set up wrong...i would highly suggest looking up some articles on how to properly set up a 4 link you ill have to take a few steps backwards but trust me you'll be glad to have a nice riding truck in the end.

bio max is a expert when it comes to suspension i would suggest reading some of his articles on setting up a proper 4 link setup

just type in 4 link in the search area

the upper link bars need a higher mounting point in front. when the truck is aired out the bars need to be parralel with the ground. it'll ride a lot better and wont fail like your current setup might. love the front swap btw. the square headlights looked horrid.

ok im going to try and explane this the best i can with my knowledge of 4 links

the black dot would be you "Instant center" if you put a jack stand under that point you truck should teeter totter.

the red and blue lines are the angle of your 4 link bars... if you took string from the axle tab and made it cross over the IC point your 4 link bars should line up with the string... oh and the bars should never be level when aired out!! they should be level at mid travel of the suspension.

the green dots are your bushings

ok so the green arrow: you should cut that tab down some its way to tall your adding extra leverage by it being so tall...the red arrow: that tab needs to be mover up a lot by having to bar mounted so low your probably binding the suspension when it cycles up and down

i cant see the bottom bar very well in the pics so idk if you need to move them or not??????????

hopefully this helped you im no expert but..

my links are almost level when aired out. like literally almost level wen aired out. she runs fine and drives fine. its actually soo good its better then stock im serious. but i ride with the truck low 1/2in off the ground to 1in. and the links are not level anymore but she runs perfect and everything.

i understand the bushing part, but not sure why your busting his balls on the rest?.. it's not how i'd set it up, but it's his truck.

the only way to not have instant center is using a parallel link setup. and if ya look at the angles of the suspension at ride height, it has a crazy amount of anti-squat. I'd say it needs less anti-squat.

okay, so i sent an email to bill carlton from ekstensive and max fish and neither of them see the problems you guys see. i sent them the same pics yall see on here

heres what bill said: "The first thing is dont listen to people on forums. Driving it is the only way to tell if it is going to work. You have done some good stuff and some stuff i wouldnt. That being said im not telling you it is wrong. The only way you will ever know what does need to be changed is from real world driving. Im saying this twice because i cant see what you have done to make it unsafe or wrong. Good luck. "

max fish: "The problem is that your front 4link mounts should not be so close to each other. If you've read my rear suspension design articles you should know what I'm talking about. What you have won't necessarily hurt anything, its just not right."

also, ive done a lot of looking at old mini truckins and on minitruckinweb.com at features and show coverage and yes i saw a lot of 4links where the upper bars are almost parallel with the ground when laid out but i also saw a lot of them that looked like mine. so with that being said, maybe yall should lay off me a little bit. i appreciate yalls concern, but like the dude above me said, stop busting my balls, just cause you think its wrong doesnt necessarily make it wrong. theres all different ways of doin suspension set ups and if the only problem i have is my 4link mounts bein a little close together and its not really a problem, then ide say ide did a pretty damn good job for this bein only my 3rd truck to bag and my 1st truck to bag all by myself with no help what so ever...also those 4link tabs are all 1/4" thick so they aint goin any where.im puttin a gussest in between the 2 of the diff, i just havnt done it yet cause i ran out of gussets

I don't think anyone was "bustin' yer balls"....I think like 99.999% of the people here are just sharing what they know/think. Like anything, take it all with a grain of salt. Don't blindly believe anything you read, forums or elsewhere.

true, i know they where just tryin to help, but mocking me doesnt really help, the 1st dude that started al this mocked me, but i understand the intention, its just easy to get mad when you put a lot of work into something just to have people tell you it was wrong when not. now if max and bill wouldve said it was wrong then i for sure wouldve changed it but thats why i got a second opinion so ill just say, thanks for tryin to help

as far as the mirrors go, i gotta keep em. they just look too bad ass. they sell them ebay though, thats where i got those, not too expensive either and they have different styles

alrighty, finally got the rest of the engine parts i need, timing chain cover came yesterday, im pickin up my gasket kit thursday hopefully and then if im off the this weekend, ill start puttin the engine back together. i cant wait. ive also got the rear valves and the compressor hooked up, still gotta plumb the front. max fish has started my control finally this week so hopefully it wont be too much longer for he gets done with them. only things left to get before shes back on the road is a bed, exhaust, rotors for the front, and get it inspected. theres a few more little things but nothing worth mentioning. shouldnt be too long, hopefully i can get it done before my daughter is born which is in about 9 weeks

    upper control arms

so max fish sent me some pics of the upper control arms i had em build for me. the inside arm i guess is curved up and out a little to clear the upper bag mount because my bag is offset on the lower control arm. i had to do this because with running such a big bag in the front, i didnt want the bag hittin the steering linkage, anyways, they shud be here this coming monday or tuesday. ive also started puttin my engine back together so it shudnt be too long before shes ready to do her first drag session...and drag her i will...
