good and bad news, the engine he is selling me has a cracked piston which explains the low compression, good news is he is putting brand new pistons in it...bad news the piston wont get to him till friday supossedly and if it takes longer i will have to wait a little bit longer.... so anyone know where i can get turbo pistons before friday ???
Compression test should read atleast 150+. Sorry for the late reply and glad you didn't get stuck with a bad motor! Hope it works out for you.
hell even if the motor is sh1t I will have one bad azz turbo setup... the price for the turbo manifold online is like 800? steedspeed.com sells it the holley carb was like 300 and the 5 speed, block and parts alone all add up to a ton more then i could have sold my engine for
yeah, well around 300 wheel horsepower should satisfy me.. im not speed racer or anything so as long as im quicker then most other cars on the street ill be happy
well he called me today, he just got back into the states from puerto rico and i will be leaving my house at 3am and getting to his around 7 or 8am.... should have the motor in and running before dark.. he said it would take 1 and a half hours to take my old engine out, and 2 or 3 hours to put the new one in and have it tuned right. I will rush the pics and videos asap if its running tomorrow... stay in-tune
I've seen this posted on another forum. You're never sure til you get it, but it looks like a good setup to me. I'm thinking 300hp is a little optimistic, but it will still put a big grin on your face if it's running right!
OMG IT HAULS ASS!!!! best trade of my life !!!! I will be working on pics asap.. anyways its running only 5 to 10 pounts boost right now.. not sure since I dont have a gauge and he couldnt remember what spring was in the wastegate. tomorrow I will buy a tach, boost gauge, boost controller, and a good therm so I know for sure im not going to over heat it !
well I left at 3 30am last night, got there at 8 30am.. he had his engine out already, took the guy about a hour or 2 to replace the pistons and have the motor back together. took 2 hours to pull my motor, and about 45 mins to install the new one... this was the quickest ive ever seen something like this done... we had the help of air tools and a fork lift... it was cool, when we needed something under the truck, the truck went up in the air like it was on a lift... took a little bit of tinkering with crap, had to remove my powersteering,a/c,heater....I want power steering and ac back but i can live without power steer as long as someone can find me a friggin gear box for non-power-steer.. lol which looks better to you ?
Sweet! Nice to know it put a smile on your face! You might wanna add a radar detector to that list... Watch out for the popo... *lol btw- What did you do with your original 22r motor?
its in the back of my titan right now. Ill take it out later but, he gave me a set of new pistons for it so im going to replace the pistons when I redo all the gaskets again and try to sell it
I thought you'd like it. So, tell me, how does it drive? There was some debate on the other forum about how well it would idle, off-idle response, and general driveability, due to the length of the plumbing between the carb and the engine. I don't think it's too bad, myself. Have you noticed any issues? Oh, and does it have an air filter?
