hmm... just take a deep breath and try not to get overwhelmed, i dont know what ur skill level is but if u dont have welding experience i feel the interior is a great place to start seeing as its so well hidden, id say just buy, rent, or borrow a cheap welder and some scrap metal and go to town! maybe a friend or tm member can help u if they live close enough i definitely wouldnt use bondo though

On a positive note some of the parts I've ordered have come in. Coming soon are the other 2 outer bumper mounts, dash cap, new catalytic converter. From ebay I have coming some oem toyota wheel center caps( andy's idea) Tomorrow I receive the new vinyl flooring from stockinteriors.com. Pictured here is the corner light, driver's side mirror, both tail light lenses, new muffler, the two center bumper brackets, new bumper (dark grey), primered valance (I plan on painting it the color of the truck), and a grey grill. Not pictured are a pair of exhaust gaskets I received yesterday for the new cat/exhaust and a new dome light cap and ac faceplate.

Got out my dremel and started grinding and cutting some rust but a massive thunderstorm ruined my afternoon so I'll have to wake up early and continue. I borrowed a 110v arc welder that I'm going to give a try. Here are some more pics of the goodies before they go in the car. First pic is the vinyl floor from stockinteriors.com and second is the magnaflow cat and new dash cap.

Partstrain.com. It's about 52.00, it's the cheapest I've found it. That's where I bought all my parts, pretty good selection and quick shipping. I combined the shipping so I don't know how much it would be.

It's not a replacement, just a cap. Included is a tube of silicone that's used to glue around the inside rim of the cap.

Andy, I've only done one large order from them and I would say it was a perfect transaction. If you only need one part I would try ebay if the price is cheaper but if you need several new items go with partstrain.

Been lost for a while, been busy with my son and just learning how to be a dad

I had minor setback when I noticed the truck was spitting fresh coolant out the overflow without the truck temp above normal operating temp. New thermostat didn't resolve the issue so I made the decision to put a new headgasket and send the head to the shop. Tech said the head was in bad shape and got everything sorted out.

Got the head on and torqued down but progress was halted by a missing spacer for the mechanical fuel pump. Found it on eBay; should be here before the weekend.

I know! Very dissapointed that it has taken me so long..

I have a few updates for this week of what I got done by Friday. Pictures from this weekend should be up tomorrow.

Put the OEM toyota caps on. Can't see it there but it says toyota in red. I'll clean them up a bit towards the end of the build.

Got my spacer earlier this week so I cleaned up the mating surface of the fuel pump with some new gaskets.

Put the fuel pump on as well the distributor.

Here is a link to video of how to easily put the distributor on.
    Installing a 22RE / 22R distributor - YouTube

This weekend I should be putting on the intake and exhaust manifolds and possibly finishing the rest of the engine!

Made some progress this weekend. Put the exhaust and intake manifolds on. After i got the exhaust manifold on and put sealant on the intake manifold I made a critical rookie mistake! I forgot to put the water tube the comes out of the center of the head on the intake side as well as the rear plate behind the head. Fortunately i was able to squeaze the rear plate with a new gasket between the head and the firewall and managed to use my smallest rachet to bolt it in. The water tube took some elbow grease to get it in by I succeeded. Unfortunately as I was removing the intake manifold after test fitting it and realizing my mistake i tore the new manifold gasket. Luckily it wasn't between one of the cylinder intakes and a water inlet so I just globbed some extra rtv sealant and called it a day. I connected all the vacuum lines as well as the cooling and radiator. AC compressor is hooked up and all belts are on the motor.

    left under the hood:
wait for the bvsv to come in the mail (I broke it when I removed the head)
clean the intake system and install
    oil and oil filter
    fill radiator system
    battery install
    spark plug cables
    new condenser and charge ac

after everything is running smoothly give the engine bay a nice cleaning

    Minor progress report:

So I got the replacement bvsv valve in the mail and was hyped to work on the truck. As I was tightening it I broke it again! Aghhhh! Did some research and decided to bypass it by putting the old bvsv back in and joining the two lines together. The EGR will always be working now instead of at operating temp but I plan on eliminating the emissions and EGR in the future. I just want to get her running and looking good so I then can start phase 2 which is hoarding performance parts for the motor and suspension components. Here is a picture of what I did and how I'm looking overall. I disconnected the fuel line and labeled the valve and the vac lines so it can be seen better.

If u plan on running a weber you delete that whole vacuum tubing rail assembly. The Egr block off u can order from lc engineering or eBay. I made my own. Just get thick enough metal, trace the Egr gaskets, drill holes, cut out the block off plates and your done. I used a old buzz saw blade.
