They might. They sell replacements.
Thats interesting. Wonder how much more it really works
I like it. Maximizing air flow while able to restrict it in certain conditions..
Pretty much expect i wouldnt really call restricting. Its allowing the more dominant source of air to have the entire surface of the radiator to get its air from.
Got the truck on jack stands AGAIN. Currently the tranny is out, pulled it apart last weekend to check the bearings. Everything checked out from what i could see by just removing the cases.
Pulled the head off to finally remove all the carbon buildup from the combustion chambers and pistons(not sure why i didnt do it the last 2 times i had the engine apart) Found a few exhaust studs that either were loose or came loose on disassembly.
guna be dropping the engine hopefully about 1" to try to get the driveline at a happier angle
keep an eye on the tie rod, when I lowered mine, I could only go about 3/4" without modifying the tie rod. Of course I have a 93 , so not sure how yours is configured.
Thank you for that. I was so concerned with only making sure the drag link was clearing that i forgot i need to cycle the steering.
im going to cut the motor mounts on the chassis side probably today and i'll be ordering some new bushings and sleeves and fab everything else.
Sounds like the tools are coming back out too!! Haha
Had to buy a new reciprocating saw because i didnt want to risk it using the death wheel
Yea, I have a miter w/o a shield I use too.. should probably toss it but ehh still does the job!
Ever thought about electric power steering?! I want to adapt an MR-S pump into mines but would need a rack!
I actually have considered it, as much as i dont want to add any more electronics into this thing it would be cool.
Truck is back together finally. Im not 100% happy with the result but at this point it is what it is. Im done tearing it apart for a while. I really want to just drive it and enjoy it as is.
I lowered the engine about 1", i dont actually have measurements BUT i also somehow moved it forward about an inch while also decreasing the angle a few degrees. I didnt realize it til reassembly and im at a point where i need to be able to daily this thing for a while.
Ended up having to make a new fan shroud, used some steel sheet i had laying around, not what i wouldve wanted to use but i also got Covid throughout this and i had to make due. Moved the exhaust hangers forward also. Its been a shitshow trying to get this thing ready to drive. but its finally back on the ground
Hope Covid wasn't to harsh on ya. Drive and enjoy young man.
Thank you bro! Luckily it wasn't too much worse than a cold. Im just ready to go back out into the world
Drove the truck out to the Mattel Legends Tour show in El Segundo on Saturday, planned to hit the Minitruck Revival Neptunes Cruise on the way back home but was too late. Heres a few pics from last week and Saturday.
Got a small update, got nee clear lenses through minitruck_revival on IG. Need to pick up some colored LEDs for them now
So today today i pulled the transmission out to swap in a W55 in place of the "W58" to see if it fixes the "growling" issue ive been having.
Im swapping the shifters so im removing the tail shaft housing and swapping out the shifter locater pivot thing to keep the shifter location the same. Posting up some pics for anyone curious if there are differences in the cases. Exterior is identical.
I'll find out if i actually had a W58 when i drive it. (Short shifter will be up for sale maybe) On to the pics
Glad i pulled this shit apart, shifter bushing bits were in the case...
Got the new to me trans in earlier. Stuck some heat shielding on the underside of the trans tunnel and took the truck out for a spin. Not quite sure if my issues are done with but im guna drive it around and see what it does now. Definitely feels like its accelerating differently. A lot smoother. Time will tell
So far the W55 has been good. Im still getting a funky sound from under the truck and im assuming its NOT the trans. Im going to have to take the driveshaft in to get balanced.
drove down to LA last month for the Minitruck Revival cruise/toy drive. Highway RPM SUCKED with the W55 compared to the W58. Im ready to swap it back.
Also black friday got me and i ended up purchasing the full Accuair E Level+ setup. Im enjoying it so far, i have a different confidence driving the truck now. Sadly its been raining here so i havent been driving the truck much since i installed it last month. I'll post up pics soon. Haven't really taken any tbh.
I love my W58 over the W55,works great with this engine
