Well another issue arose. Went to change the seal at the pinion, and now im in the middle of changing the pinion bearings. FML
Shes back on the road now. Put some miles on it and its doing good. I think i need to adjust the carb some. For some reason it doesnt like reving past 4000 under load. Sometimes it doesnt rev past it at all
Had a coworker help me diagnose the rev issue. Turns out the vac advance on the 20R dizzy wasnt functioning, stuck or busted either way it wasnt working. Pulled the 22R dizzy out of the parts bin, bolted it on and wired it. Shes cruising right along now. So far acceleration is a lot smoother especially from 3k rpm and up.
Well here goes another update. When i had the truck up and tore the axle apart i noticed the massive exhaust leak i had at the flange, now i understood why i always stunk after driving it. This gave me the opportunity to make a change. I finally was able to use the Cherry Bomb turbo muffler ive had in the garage for the last 6 years. Its so much more quiet and comfortable to drive. Still not 100% happy with it but itl have to do. Oh and my tires came in on tuesday for the 17s il be running. Shoukd be getting em mounted this weekend
Well All Toyotafest was a success, good mount of trucks. Didnt mingle or socialize much, i was running on 2 hours of sleep and im a shitty people-meeter lol. But the guys I did talk to were cool people. I ended up having to drive the truck out to Long Beach. It was a fun little trip. But made me realize what "improvements"(mods) need to be made. Didnt take many pics sadly but i keep finding pages on instagram posting pics and im asking to have them sent to me. Heres a few Il be notching the rear, relocating the gas tank, modifying the exhaust AGAIN, and relocating the front shocks in the near future. I may also try to modify some control arms for some extra drop using an extra pair I have
Im planning on bagging it in the future. So im wanting to do mods to work toward that. Going to do it once the right way so im not doing double the work
Gotcha, I was thinking you were going to put on a 75-79 bed (Gas fill on the Right) Btw how did you go about finding parts for the front disc swap?
Oh no, the 75-78 bed wont work anyway, different lengths. For the disc brakes, some dude was parting out a truck and had a complete 75+ front crossmember, hub to hub. Snatched that shit up.
