I want to get something that will make my trk sound alittle beefier.any suggestions would be cool. thanks
yea ,I found some threads that sug that & flowmaster.I listened to some on youtube ,the magnaflow sounded like what I was looking for.Maybe a muffler shop can guide me to the right sound for my truck. thanks
magnaflow! 2.25" piping! exit out the back! resonator to clean her up! keep the cat! oh ****, you're in cali still. hahah
I talked to acouple of muffler guys about magnaflow/flowmaster and they said the sound would be real tinty and with a 4 cyl. it's just not going to do much. I rather go stock $$$ wise if that's the case. can anyone post a video with an 84-88 with their muffler info
+1 I have a DynoMax Ultra Flow...Deep but quiet not ricey at all or annoying, plus its a straight through design, and yes keep your cat..I have a test pipe, i had it on for a while and just didnt like the way it sounded
our trucks are ricey without the cat. it makes it reallllllll raspy, so keep it on and don't gut it. You won't gain hp, you'll lose torque. Flowmasters sound annoying because they are a chambered design that slows down air and reflect the sound waves all over the place. Magnaflows are straight through and provide a deep tone. I know they're built pretty well too. I hit a cinderblock last winter. broke my o2, dented my cat, didn't damage the magnaflow, wow, and bent my u-bolts. MY magnaflow is an offset inlet to offset outlet design, so it helps the exhaust notes get absorbed and tone her down a bit, but the overall design is still straight through.
I wasnt bashing flowmaster in that post. All the exhausts ive heard without a cat sounded ricey. I just aint a fan of Flowmasters sound
same here... my friend had a Flowmaster 40 on his 22R/22RE and 3VZ-E and all three sounded really cheap.... nasty. makes me shiver upon thought. or when you hear those domestic 4cyls or 6cyls with the flowmasters and the sticker on the rear window..
1999 Toyota 4Runner 3RZ, LCE Headers, MagnaFlow 2.5" Cat/24" Muffler (Pre-regear) - YouTube ^This is for a 3RZ, not that bad. Honestly, you can't make 4cylinder trucks sound any better... here's a 22RE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SkPq4raqOsM Note that they both have headers. you can't do that to yours since it's in Cali, but it wouldn't sound as high pitched either. None of the videos illustrate how my truck sounds
if you do go with a straight through design, get something with an offset inlet or outlet at least, so the exhaust can actually get absorbed. lowers the pitch. 1994 Toyota Pickup 22re Walkaround - YouTube This one might be similar to my truck, but that's because I havent let a friend drive my truck lol and my catback is complete custom without a tailpipe xD Toyota Pickup Magnaflow Catback - YouTube

I'm finding that installation for a magnaflow with pipping is $225. Does that seem about the right price?
