Bobby, as I believe I read, said he did NOT finish the whole tech article in MT. It was run as a multi-part series and the second half never ran. YOU HAVE TO RAISE THE UPPERS! If you want to have stock geometry, which for most is far better than anything they could design themselves, you HAVE TO raise the uppers. Your doing half-ass work if you don't. Plain and simple.

I hate to seem like the ******* in this thread, but hear me out.

What exactly are you going to try and do? Lay an 84-88 on 20's? Why? If you've been told by numerous people that either own, or self-built trucks that are bodied...why in the world would you try and do something already known to be impossible? This isn't someone saying you can't jump the golden gate bridge on a razor scooter...that MIGHT just be possible...but doored (or a 1/4 inch from the doors) is physically impossible with these trucks.

It is physically impossible to be doored on 20's with stock sheet metal. I don't know how high a 20 will come through an 84-88 fender/hood but Bernie's 86 has 17's that stuck out a couple inches. I imagine 20's would be quite a lot more. Especially from looking at that newer body yota in this thread. Why not run 18's and build a clean truck that's rockered? Or maybe you could run 20's then. I don't know.

Bernie has pics of all the work it took to door his truck, including pics of his 40 series tires on 17's sticking over the fenders. He also has pics of how he went about fixing that. 17's maybe, 16's for sure can be doored on. 20's never. Sorry.

Thts just what I was told by a guy on ssm. I even asked him if he raised the uppers an he said it wasn't needed. I'd personally Z it so i wouldn't mess up geometry. Rocketed on 20s is hard enough on these trucks. My buddies 86 is rockered on 18s with a 225/40/18 an it comes to the top of the fender his truck barely untucks them when aired up it's bodied 3.5". So if his was doored it would be 2" above fender or so

I wasnt hating I was just stating its a lot more work to door it then just a normal couple inch body drop. Just be ready and willing to do the work. Me and my friends have seen more than enough unfinished trucks on craigslist cause they get sick of the work. The one I posted previous page is something that had been done over and over and over he started from scratch and everything is new. It looks ugly now but when its DONE I'll post it again and see who here can tell me if its ugly or not. Do your thing man, take it as constructive critisizm not hate

Good, go doored. I love doored trucks. They look funny off the ground regardless of how high, but they are awesome layed out. Just don't put wheels on it that stick above the fenders. That's all that anyone was getting at. There are tons of nice wheels that are 16's yet no one runs them because everyone wants ridiculously large rims whatever the cost.

I think this guy is on 17s maybe 18s and what looks like a 30-35 series. I don't know if his fenders are stock.
