I'll get more pictures and maybe a video clip once everything is installed. Believe me, I'm tempted, but I have a different car for going fast that needs some attention as well. This truck is just supposed to be for hauling stuff and cruising anyway.
and hows that concept working for ya? lol. mine was supposed to be for that and ive done everything to the motor except a big cam and higher compression. lol. it was also supposed to keep me from getting as many pull overs as my 92...thats not working either.
Got a couple quick pictures: It's a really tight fit. I wasn't even able to slide it over the studs; I had to remove almost all of them. You might not be able to see it in the picture, but there is about 1mm clearance to the frame. I also had to remove the little heat shield that was there. The collector is also really close to the floor and the torsion bar (and pretty much everything). There was another little head shield underneath that I had to remove. Keep in mind that this is the bigger pro header that LC sells. The street header drops in way easier. I also modified a 2.5" stainless Magnaflow exhaust (for a later model Tacoma) to make it fit my truck. I might try and make it tuck up a little higher later on. I can try and get some sound clips later on if you guys are interested.
Wont that hit with engine vibration? Or maybe your motor mounts are just a lot better than mine. That exhaust looks sick! I'm jealous. I need exhaust like that on all my yotas.
I guess my mounts are in decent shape. I think the motion from engine vibrations is more up and down than side to side at that spot. I do want to add in a flex joint later to cut down some of the vibration the header has to endure. I managed to make the exhaust almost straight back except a few slight bends where I had to go down and around the torsion bar and under the crossmember, as well as a slight kick up in the back. It would have been way easier if I didn't have to worry about ground clearance.
You guys should have seen what it looked like when I started. I don't have a picture of what it originally looked like, but here's one that's still pretty dirty: Yikes. I had already done a bit of cleaning at that point. There is still more cleaning to be done, though.
Picked up my motor yesterday: A little dirty on the outside but the inside is nice: LC pro head, cam gear, dual chain, ARP head studs, mains, and rod bolts. This motor did some serious work and saw lots of full throttle 7000 rpm action in the 4wd truck it came out of. I'm just going to clean it up a bit and get a new clutch and lightweight flywheel to go with it before it goes in.
hey dogg ur whip is NICCCE. clean, im feelin those weld pros. its gotta oldskool pinoy stlyle to it, sh*t is on hit, shoots bra!
^^ Thanks. Yeah, I like to try and make it a little bit old school. It's actually a complete 22r, converted to dual chain, with the 20r valve cover on it. It's the motor my sidedrafts came off of.
i love how dirty the underneath of your truck is and then you see the super shiny exhaust. lol jk truck is looking sweet cant wait to here it
Yeah, it is kinda funny. Not too many people are gonna lie down on the ground to see it, though. The freeze plug had a slight leak with silicone as a temporary fix. Now that it is easily accessible I can change it.
lol ya the pic just made me laugh. mine is the same way just the exhaust isnt quite so shiny as yours. lol
