    If you truly want power, don't waste your time with a 22R. I love the 22R, but it's a 4 cylinder. I don't care if my trucks are slow, that's why I also have a Mustang. If you really are determined to have power in your pickup, save up for a 1UZ swap.

    not trying to revive an old thread but why not do a V8 sbc swap? If you do all your own work and pull a junkyard motor it shoul dbe pretty cheap. Pull an old truck motor and drop it in as is, get it running, then modify it for more power down the road. Even a tired old sbc should produce over 200hp in stock form. Put performance heads and cam and you are over 300hp easy. Like it has already been said, you have to pay to play.
