Just wanted to drop in and say, I reeaally apreciated this spep by step instructions, I hope to be seing more people do this, it helps everone out.
i think i need to see a writeup on the hilux trucks. but great job buddy. i would do this to my hilux, but i dont think i have any more available drop before im sitting the crossmember on the ground hahaha. but if i tear into the front, ill deffinately check it out and see if it would help. the rear is my issue more so. but i will try my swap bar back in there to see how it fits since i cant remember. anyways, nice job!
Thats is easy as changing a tyre... Talk about simple. Nice work on the thread, straight to the point. Tom.
thanks for the compliments guys. the uppers do not need to be done. our trucks unlike the later tacoma trucks do not have the camber issue when dropped so the uppers dont need to be relocated.
your welcome guys. glad it helps. dwn- DS? there's not really a reason not to do it unless you dont wanna go low i......?
Well yeah, yours does look like it has a birth defect with all the different colors of skin tone. And that front lip that droops over its chin. My truck doesn't look like a crack baby. HAHAHAHA
holy batman, no one told me he put a tutorial up here! I said I would but never did..... anyway, props for the details. Hope others will look through this. I had too much explaining around here
very fitting since my crack baby will inflict some serious ownage on your gimp of a fossil ass draggin granny truck when i crack the throttle open shall we? yea i get it, my truck needs to get done..... ive been hearin allot about it lately trust me
lol loving this thread. btw SDYOTA, good thing you pointed out to flip that bracket. I figured that out when i did mine. One thing i didn't do is the spacer/washers
yea........ keep in mind that when you add a couple spacers or washers into the b/j flip to maximize the effect there.... that is less torsion you have to uncrank in order to drop it and keeps a better spring rate for the drop! the actual AIM behind the b/j flip lies more in keeping your torsion rate up as close to stock as possible so you DONT end up with a spongey, soggy wet bread feel type ride to your front suspension. if you gain a 1 1/2 worth of drop in the flip, then its 1 1/2 inch less you gotta take out from the torsions in order to achieve a 3/3 or 4/3 drop. one thing to also keep in mind with all 84-94 trucks.......... your rear fender bottom lines sit 1 inche lower than your front fender bottom lines. so in most cases if you want to keep an "even" look to your truck, you will typically want to drop your truck an inch lower in the front. yes........ this will give you some slight rake but damn near unoticeable since the truck will look like its stitting evenly across the fender lines with your tires.
Hella Props on the write up, I just have one question. I seem to know the pros of the flip, but are there any cons on this procedure, any incident of breakage. thanx
