i bought a york compressor for my air ride and when we tried to manufature it to fit my toyota, it was just too big. onward. i have 2 dc5000s i can rebuild and use but i would really like to go engine driven. i have seen where the mazda a/c compressors can be easily modified to work, but what i really wanna know is, is there any way to modify a toyota a/c compressor to do the deed of filling my twin tanks??? would i just do the same to the toyota model as i would a mazda compressor or should i just locate a mazda compressor?:verdict_in::runaway::shrug::brickknock:

oh and sorry guys, the york is being sold to my v.p. for his new k5 blazer he's getting ready to put to the floor.

I honestly don't know man. I'd bet that it could be done, but haven't heard of anyone doing it. The best thing to do if you wanted to follow it up would be get a scrapped one and tear it apart to see how it works, and if it would work reliably for the EDC.

There are two different models off of the Mazdas that you could use, a five piston and a seven piston model. I read up on them a while ago, but don't remember any specifics. There is also a grease mod to eliminate oiling, but read about mixed results for that.

I would tend to agree with the "if you try hard enough" or "...how much do you want to spend" crowd but that's not the vein of the thread.

I don't see why you couldn't convert a Toyota compresser to just compress air just like the Mazdas. After all, the AC compresser is one of those components made by an outside company for Toyota, Mazda, Honda, etc.
