Has anyone ever had their heater switch short out?

My charge light has been on since I bought the truck. It come on when I pull the e-brake and gets dimmer when I let it out and pulses or stays dim, some times it doesn't come on. I know it's not the alternator or regulator, and tonight I realized the heater switch circuit is part of it. I pulled the heater fuse but if I turn the fan switch to on, high or low, it makes the charge light go bright! It does this with the fuse pulled out or with it in. And my fan does not spin.

When I bought the truck the fan would either come on or it wouldn't and would make the charge light come on instead.

Could it be the switch is shorting? This problem is making me go crazy!:puke:
