Yeah, thats a good plan. In the long run it'll cost an extra head gasket to swap blocks out, but for now just get a fresh head on it and drive it again.

I know right. A stout is cool, but doesn't make up for 2 less lux's at a LUX meet. You'll get it figured out. Heads are easy to swap on these trucks as long as you have a 19 mm socket in your kit. It's the biggest you'll need.

If you don't want it, and you are going to be at the meet, I will take it off your hands. I'd still be interested in buying one from either SB or 77; I like having backup of stuff... I do have (counting what is on the truck), two beds, two sets of doors, two sets of fenders, two front valences, two sets of rims w/tires (one flat), and two bumpers... I'd have two hoods, but I promised one to 77yoter

I got a head. I'll start on it tomorrow. Pictures of the process will follow.

Thats awesome man. I'm glad you got that. I suggest to inspect the cam that is in it, and the rocker arm setup. If they all look good, keep them matched as a set. If not, use your old parts. Again keeping the cam matched to the valve train. Hopefully you can make it to the meet in your truck still.

Well, I got the new head on today... I turned it over, and it ran, and ran, and ran... no backfiring, no missing... It was awesome...

    ...

    ...

    ...

    However...

I am dumping water out of the back of the engine, and the oil managed to foul. D@mn-it-all!!! Guess I will tear into it tomorrow and see if there is anything I missed.

I may/may not do collector plates. From my understanding, in WA, collector plates really only 'allow' you to drive the truck to 'events' and disallows daily driver use.

I know people that get the collector plates that drive their vehicles daily, but I'm not sure if I want to do that.
