So, I was looking at this ad...

    He wants $145 for
    both doors, complete
    both front fenders
    front bumper
    front valence
battery tray and hold down equipment

I am thinking of taking him up on it. I'll take a look at it this weekend.

If nothing else, $60 for both doors, complete, is probably not too bad if they aren't rusty and work with no issues.

Anyone else want me to check out anything on this rig?

Will do! I'll give the guy a call on Friday, and try to set something up on Saturday. Depending on his schedule, I'll let you know when I'll be out there. If there is anything specific, I'll e-mail him asking what he has.

My budget is pretty *tight* and I'm not sure about shipping, but I can ask him about a price of it (or I can send you his e-mail). And, if he maybe does not want to ship, I can pull it and put it together and ship it for you.

    Parts and stuff

Well, I talked to the seller, and we worked out Saturday @ noon to 1pm-ish. He is supposed to email me an address, but he has not yet.

For those that want in on the 'part out orgy'. I'll let you know a meet spot as soon as I get an address. Worse come to worse, we can meet at my place in Lake Stevens or @ a restaraunt in Snohomish and go from there.

    Stay tuned!

So I got the address... The seller is actually just under five miles from my place. So, I figure we can meet at my place (or the convenience store *very* close by). Give me a call @ 206-455-1128 for directions!

Yeah, I think we decided the grille was definitely not worth your time. Though this truck is in real good condition. It was nearly completely unmolested before we dirtied and defiled her. If I had the extra money, I should have seen if I could have bought the entire thing and put the extra bed I had on it.

eh... it is what it is... I'll have some really nice body panels on my p/u while I am learning to sand, fill, and paint the old panels. Then I'll have a nice set of panels in case I need them.

    Over the Weekend

So, over the weekend I replaced the oil pan gasket and the valve cover gasket and 'half moons'.

Since the engine was in the truck, I dropped the steering via the frame mounts for the idler arm. The whole steering on the passenger side of the truck came down more than enough for me to pull out the pan. I also pulled out the oil pickup tube and gave that a good cleaning as well.

The valve cover was easy enough. Remove everything attached, pull the four nuts, and slowly lift.

Hopefully this will shore up some of my oil seepage enough for me to take it to the Seattle meet this upcoming weekend.

Other things done: I took some rustoleum to the roof of the cab to cover up the surface rust (used what I had in my shop which is a metallic black). I will end up sanding it all down and painting the entire truck eventually.

Things on the agenda during the week: Tach install; flat black rustoleum paint of the inner bed; re-install bed canopy; remove rear bumper and possibly trailer hitch; remove front bumper; clean up chrome bumper I picked up; install chrome bumper

Will get pics later today if the weather is okay.

painted the bed (flat black rust-o-leum). I didn't want to show a bunch of rust @ the meet.

Well, I've been a bit busy, but haven't posted much about it.

Earlier this week I picked up some 1984 Celica Supra bucket seats for $20. They need a little cleaning, and they are red, but I'll use 'em. They seem a little easier to work with than the other buckets I have yet to try to put in. I just need to get a proper drill bit or something to help me get the necessary holes in the floor pan.

Saturday (4/3/10) I picked up a free Weber! It is stamped 'Made in Spain', and it also has a '32/36 DGAV' stamp, but it has an electric choke. Guy bought a Jeep and found it in the back. He said he was going to put in a V-8, and he did not need nor want it. It looks fairly nice. I have to get a rebuild kit, adapter plates, anything that I need for the throttle arm, and proper sized jets. I can probably get the rebuild kit soon, but the rest, I either have to find a real good deal somewhere (I saw a single plate adapter on CL for $50, but the poster didn't say what Toyota engine it was for. I'll call him), or I have to save some money. So, it looks like I'll probably be looking to get the carb on around June.

Like I said, this will be a slow work here, but I'm doing what I can when I can.

I'll get pics up some time this week after I get the seats in.
