I will check the box, if I still have it. I just asked NAPA for the replacement they had on hand and did not really pay attention. What temp should I use? And when I reinstall it is spring down, Correct?
Yeah i was just giving a quick test method. This would also expose a bad head gasket without all those signs though.I didnt know there were different temp ranges on thermos.Yes it should be spring down cuz it warms up from the motor side and lets the water in from the radiator side.
i am going to have to do a compression and check the head gasket and timing now that you mention it, I am having some other performance issues with my truck that make me think I might have bigger issues. Some times it runs great, then the next thing you know it is like it is starving for fuel.
i dont know if this will help, but i was looking at my truck to day and saw what looked like rust in the cooliant, but long story short the guy that had this truck befor me put stop leak in it and that crap stoped up the heater core and the radiator, trust me its hard to get all that mess out but flushing out the block and everything with woter fixed it.
You can get thermostats in 160, 180, and 195 degree temp ranges for the 22r, most are 195 as standard. FWIW, the thermostat is mounted spring down, and as it opens it lets the hot water from the engine "out" which goes into the top of the radiator. the cooler water in the radiator is pulled via the water pump from the bottom of the radiator back into the engine.
