It's a cool idea, but I can't see many people throwing down a grand on a plastic hood that could be rims or subs or a simple bag system. Leave the carbon to the import crowd.

Exactly, leave the silly "performance" mods to the ricer car crowd. If the hood did something besides look good it'd be one thing but it doesn't. If you want to lose a few pounds to gain some performance forgo the cheese burger at lunch for a salad.

Take the easy buy a carbon fiber hood skin.... cut a oem steel hood, take everything you need sand blast, paint and glue the skin on top of the oem metal frame...

or do something that nobody has done before, like take off the sheet metal of the stock hood and stretch leather over the frame. Or maybe preserved Paper Mache.
