I gotcha .. If you do use it always check engine rotation with plugs out and turn motor with ratchet and go slow and if it hits you'll here feel it .. Don't think you will with a fresh uncut head and or either the domed or dished pistons . I'm using a 441 lift and at fifty a 294 intake 278 exhaust high dome pistons and both head and block have been shaved deep . My valves are close but not hitting . did it have a cam card come with it that shows how it should be setup the info card has some very useful and or important info Proably can be found on the web
I got the cam for a steal awhile back, I had a friend who worked there for a few years. I thought it was more mild but when I looked it up I figured I would'nt use it due to the head upgrade. One of these days I'm going to do a full rebuild on mine with some boost when $ permits it. I'm still in body/ suspension stage yet...
Yea I rushed into my first turbo setup and let's just say I like second one more because I took my time building it but now all this cam talk makes me want one
I feel ya on that! I got your pm and will let you know asap. Soon as I get my head back from the shop its open season on ordering more parts to get this bad boy back on the street!
Yea that's the web 91 it will work . Some 500 lift springs or at least 460s would be needed .but your looking at a decent lope at idle and motor performance to come alive around 3000 rpm and up . Def help having a header . And a little bit of weber adjustments . Good to go .. . Approaching the 470 lift to 500 range always wanna make sure you have clearance before staring the motor
Yea that's me crooked308 . YouTube. Let it sit for a while ..took a while to start cause the gas had drained out of the lines .. Probably shoulda sprayed some starting fluid but meh .. Just give the starter a workout .instead . But yea that that's what aggressive cams can sound like . And again they can be cranky in traffic stop and go type stuff .. Sometimes gotta blip the throttle and clear it out ..
I got a new head today with an unknown cam. I will measure it out tomorrow and find out its specs. About 440ish lift I was told. Should have my motor ready to start tomorrow night if all goes well. I will get some videos of it. It'll be the first time I run a non stock cam in a toyota, so my hybrid should really come alive. Ill keep you all posted.
im used to the motor being cranky in s&g traffic thanks to my last 5.0 lol. that thing never liked being cold or sitting idle for too long but your right about the blip of the throttle haha! and of course, good ol joy of having a mechanical fuel pump after the truck has sat for a while. lol def keep us posted!
