Definatly will as there isn't much info that I've seen about it. I'll be sure to let everyone know as I plan to make std 4 1/2, 5 1/2, 6 1/2 backspace wheels work without spacers. I'm going to get it under there as a bare housing and see where I am as far as axle length as I have 99 Mountaineer right/left sizes, 98 Mustang as well as fox mustang for reference. We shall see... Making space in the garage for the mountaineer to do a quick week or 2 part out and get it gone so I can get the Toyota in to make mounts for the 5.0 and get the 8.8" rear end in. Finally have some free time and nice weather lately.

Parting out the Mountaineer donor... Paid $200 for the Mountaineer. Already have the gt40 f.i. intake sold for $150, transmission for $150,grille,headlights,bumper for $50 so its already paid for itself. Need to rip it apart and off to the scrapyard so I can get my Toyota in the garage and tore apart. Time...

Will do. Little by little... Tearing apart the mountaineer now so I can scrap it and get the Toyota in. Looking at different 8.8" axle widths to see if I can find a stock length to get a decent backspace wheel in the wheelwell. We shall see. Getting there...

I built my own mounts for my 305 (they didnt have kits in 1998). I had to cut out a 4"x4" piece of the lower passenger side firewall, spin in to bulge in toward the cab and weld it back in to get clearance for my 350turbo trans.
Now that you are going with a 3.8...they probably still make a engine mount kit for it. I used 3/8" steel plate, tapped the holes, mounted to the mounts on the engine, dropped in, lined up , and welded the plate in place.

I'm actially going with a 5.0, c4, 8.8" I've got a complete stock gt40 5.0, accessories, 8.8" 3.73 rear, plate nitrous kit, parker funnelweb carb intake, nos mastermind controller, nitrous guage, all for the total of $560.00. Lol. Beg, barter, steal. Good trades and used "junk". Plan is: Stock 5.0 shortblock with gapped rings, ported gt40 heads, v springs, bigger roller cam, 650 Holley d.p. carb, funnelweb intake, roller rockers, head studs and good head gaskets and spray the life out of it. Can only spray 150 nos but should make 350-370 crank hp n/a so 500-520 total. C4 trans, stall, him made caltracs. Might integrate the factory "ladder bar" from the mountaineer as its bolt on. Check out my facebook page nor my complete build. blubyu2 racing

Cool. Using the 5.0 gives more room with the distributor up front. I had a hard time with clearance on the 305 with the distributor in the rear.
