    Failed smog.

I showed up first rhing in the morning, and the machine hadn't booted up to check yet, so I sat with the engine running to keep things hot. I noticed that things looked a little lean on my wideband, so I adjusted the afm a little richer. Ran just fine, nice and smooth, held 14.7 at idle. Boom, failed smog because it was too rich. I shouldn't have touched anything!

I went home, adjusted things back to where they were, and then it was running waaaay lean. Like didn't accelerate and sputtered lean. I've been messing with it, and now if I get it in the right range, it is super jumpy holding a consistent speed jumping between 15 and 16.

So I started the engine this morning, waited til it got up to temp, and took it for a few drives around the block. I tuned it to where it was running at around 14.7 AFR while driving at 25mph. I then turned it off, did some things, went back to turn it back on, and the AFR was off the charts lean. WHAT IS GOING ON?!
I ordered a new O2 sensor to see if that changes anything. That won't come for days, and my registration is up at the end of March.
I may try seeing how well I can get it to run with the O2 sensor unplugged to see how that does.

Other than tinkering with the afm, what else did you adjust?

Timing. Other than that I don't know what to try. It is also running rich one minute, lean another, on point later, even without adjusting anything. I have NO idea what is going on

Crayz to say, but an O2 sensor would cause this condition. Also, check that you didn't knock an injector connector loose/off you can have lean conditions. Does it sound like it's misfiring any?

My wideband O2 sender has a narrowband output, so I ordered a harness to hook that up. Then I know the ECU is seeing exactly what I am

I've been opening and closing my hood a lot lately trying to tune things, so I made it a lil easier on myself and added a couple hydraulics.

brackets are just aluminun, and the hydraulics came with the ball nuts.

This morning I will be installing a brand new MAF and O2 sensor as well as my FAST ignition module. Hope this helps with keeping things stochiometric.

Good idea with the lift struts. Been debating on doing the same.

Hahaha, totally! they definitely need some refinement, I just roughed those out for proof of concept.

new sensors and things did not work out. that leads me to believe that there is a fault in the wiring somewhere causing things to react inconsistantly. I have no idea where to start, there are lots of wires under that hood haha.

I'm thinking that I need to check the wires for the AFM, the O2 sensor, the TPS, and the temp sender. Is there any other sender that might affect the air/fuel ratio?

    Timing is spot on 5*

    CSI is a suspet too.

They are just hydraulic assists for a camper shell or something. they are 18.5" and rated for 45lbs.

*Funny enough, my idea for the hydraulics on the hood was inspired by an old post that that bogus account Chinafodia posted on.

I took her back to the shop that I had her at a while back to readress some things they left hanging last time, and to checl things out. They are smogging it tomorrow to see if it passes after they worked on it.
